Ok.... I have read this entire post... The info I take away from it is, IR plugs last longer and copper plugs don't. I am looking to replace my plugs as my EVO seems to have a some what ruff idle. I know with my 2G eclipse I used BPR7ES's and they were fine 19psi from a Big 16G. I am not sure what works best with the EVO that's why I am here. I don't really want to spend $10 a plug if I can spend $2.... I did change my plugs alot in my DSM but it always felt nice to have a nice fresh set of plugs in it.
... I TRIED (and still run) the BPR7ES and have found they work great. I'm holding just over 19psi to redline with the occassional 4th/5th gear spike to 22psi (Works P2 flash). They run a little smoother the the OE. I have no doubt that they will wear out fairly quickly compared to OE. I have resigned myself to changing them every two oil changes, or 6000 miles.
Soooooooooo... now thats its 2005 have we come to conclusion on the best set of plugs to run on the EVO?
I am in the same boat as SHAPE and Hitman. On my 1G DSM, I used NGK-BPR7ES, and they worked flawlessly. I did change them a lot, like every 3-5000 miles depending on how they looked of course....but like Hitman said, it felt good seeing a new pair going in frequently.
Im willing to spend extra money to make my car run the best. I dont want Iridiums if they are just in there for longetivity. Ill change the plugs every damn oil change if that means my car will run best by doing so... soo what is it fellas? The stock iridiums? Colder range Iridiums? Or those infamous $2 NGKs whom all the DSM guys use and trust. Im at 8300 miles now, so Im looking for options!

Another vote for NGK coppers. Either bpr7es or bpr8es if you are more modified. Others, such as EVOTEXAS run the br8es. The "p" means the plug "protrudes" more.
If you hold them side by side you'll see. The bpr8es is probably like a 7.5 heat range or something to that effect. I had tried the br8es, and they didn't work well, but I think this was because I was having issues with my magnecor wires. I've since switched back to stock wires and I would bet that the br8es would work fine. I may go to an 8 range plug for my next set.
Take care,

I ran the stock plugs (Iridium) for 15K, then swapped them out for the hell of it. They looked fine and dandy though, nothing like the pics in this thread. Probably could have gone longer, but it was only $50 if you look in the right places!
