Erratic oil pressure readings - any ideas?

I have the 3 guage pack from 42 draft designs - boost, oil temp and oil pressure. The oil pressure is a VDO 0-150 psi gauge. I installed an mbc last week, and while under the hood topped off my oil. Since then, the oil pressure starting reading very high, then began to peg high. I initially thought that it may be due to the weather getting colder or something, but it has been acting more and more erratic. The needle now always pegs high, and is very twitchy. Anybody got any ideas for me? I'm reasonably skilled at working with the car, but I did have the gauges installed by a shop, so I'm not too familiar with where I should be looking or what I should be looking for. Thanks.

Chad

Only 2 things I would guess. One is the oil pressure sender or the gauge itself. Do keep in mind the VDO gauges are prone to be defective the moment they get installed. I've personally seen it more than once...

Otheriwse its possible you have too much oil...

Checked the oil level and it's fine. I've had the gauge in since June, and it has worked fine. I think the problem is electrical, but not sure what I need to do to fix it. I looked on the 42 website, and it mentioned making sure the sending unit is properly grounded, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Yeah, I guess I am going to have to do that eventually. Unfortunately, I had them installed in Norfolk, which is 4 hours away. Really getting tired of being out here in BFE SW Virginia, where there are very few car enthusiasts and even fewer performance shops.

could be the pickup or a bad grounding , check your wiring and see if it's not damaged ( even in the engine bay , heat can melt wires protection )

I'm having the same problem with my Stewart Warner gauge from them and I tried grounding the sending unit somewhere else but it was a no go. Still the same deal. I have no idea at this point....
