Any benefit to upgrading valves?

When I change the timing belt and related parts, I'm planning on adding cams, new valve springs and retainers. Is there any benefit to replacing/ugprading valves while I'm at it. Is the benefit more reliability, better performance and is there any machining necessary? Thanks for replys

if you are going for a crazy head build, with full porting, a manifold, and bolting it all to a new short block with a significantly higher redline capacity than stock, and a bigger turbo yes. If not, then save your money on the valves. Depending on your cam selection, you might not even need springs or retainers either
