boosting at 13 psi with intercooler pipes??

i just recieved my boost gauge today and installed it and noticed something really wrong.. my evo is boosting at 13 psi.. .i know that running an bigger diameter ic pipes can lower boost... more volume = less boost... but can my boost level be lowered this much? i'll be getting an EBC soon so i will turn up the boost up to 21 psi.. i checked all the fittings and clamps...everything is super tight and leaks doesn't seem possible... any senerios? or running bigger ic pipes will lower boost by 6-7 psi?

How do you have the boost control solenoid hooked up now?
Did you remove the "T" fitting that went to the lower pipe?

sounds like you may have a defective boost gauge, what brand is it and where did you tape the t-fitting in at? It should be the line coming directly off the intake manifold by the oil dipstick.

no..i just recieve this today and its Defi gauge..im sure those are more of the accurate gauges... the t-fitting is by the intake manifold like i originally had my last boost gauge which i sold for a better one..

Just to be clear: your boost solenoid still goes to the turbo outlet pipe under the housing? This often disappears if you run a complete lower IC pipe replacement...

You said you installed IC piping. Is there a nipple on the lower pipe?
If so do you have a tee installed there and then to the wastegateand back to the boost control solenoid?
If you have the boost control solenoid straight to the wastegate you will only get about 12-13psi.

The stock lower pipe does have a nipple. It is on the turbo outlet pipe(pipe that is bolted to the turbo).

What mods do you have on your car? When you try to turn up the boost does your car hit fuel cut?

When you say "returned the car back to stock" did you replace the hoses from the Stock boost control solenoid?? the ones that T from the Wastegate and Turbo? If so, did you use the factory hoses or just replace them with regular Vacuum hose? There is supposed to be a little pill inside one of those hoses that does whatever it does, but its supposed to be there. I had the same issue, i bought my car used and when i put a boost gauge in i was only boosting 13psi repalced the hoses after doing some research on here and bingo. Full boost again.

Its very simple. You did not hook up the boost guage correctly It leaks. Just fix the leak. If it was running at 14psi you would KNOW it... it would be EXTREMELY slow.
