We have been waiting to get one of these in our hands now for about 9 months. Glad to see some of you bought it and are getting starting on using them.

Good simple way to eliminate the MAF.

As a side note and not trying to highjack this, as we will be carrying them if we ever get them, but there are other alternatives to remove the MAF that don't include the EMS or tons of money.

Also, the MAF I do not think is a huge restiction. If you have gained a bunch of spool up or power from eliminating the MAF I am guessing it was because the tune is better now.

Even on one of our Stage 4 kits the MAF elimination doesn't gain much power or spool up, we have tested the EMS (which I tuned) against a good reflash many times and the gains just aren't there to justify it.

Your right about the MAF not being that much of a huge restriction. But if you read these boards there are countless people installing intakes, bov and other crap that makes the MAF nuts.

Here are some important benefits of removing the MAF on the stock ECU:

No longer need to worry about a boost leak affecting your tune. Some people develop leaks after their flashes. They think its weather or something so they turn up the boost a bit more to compensate. Now they have greater amount of air going thru the MAF and less air getting to the engine. The ECU will only measure the AIR that goes thru the MAF and adjust the fuel. Now the flash you got last week, few months ago etc.. will be running much more rich.

Another cool benefit is when a intercooler hose blows off. You will actually be able to drive the car still.

For those people who like putting on intakes and blow off valves you don't have to worry about problems anymore. The air is metered at the intake manifold therfore it does not matter what you use.

The biggest improvements for me have been:

Much smoother AFR curve.

I tuned the unit to have 11.5 AFR at WOT. Started off by disabling the AFR tracking option and adjusting the trims so 11.5 at WOT was rock solid. I then went ahead and turned on AFR tracking. No matter the weather, heat, etc.. the unit will correct itself and keep it 11.5.

Improved idle and driving in traffic with my 280's

At idle my car sits around 1k rpm with AFR's at nice stoich levels. I turn the AC on the car dips down to around 900 rpm. I can drive around in traffic with the AC etc.. with no problems.

Safer control of my methanol setup

When I run methanol I use 25 PSI and about 12.0 AFR. The MAFTpro can be configured so that when the Meth pump activates it will change fuel trims on the fly. I tuned for 12.0 and 25 PSI and the AFR again stay pretty rock solid. If the methanol were to run dry or if I had a pump failure it will keep the AFR at 12.0 reducing the risk of engine damage.

Of course it has some fine tuning that needs to be done. Tip-in problems with big cams are a pain in the ***. It takes some time of tuning before you can get it to work like you want it.

You should definatly talk to Bob and include this in your staged upgrades instead of the SAFC.

My timing hasn't changed and fueling is just a little richer. As joey said it takes some time to get the idle and tip-in correct if you are running cams, but he is running 280's while I have the 264/272 combo. But since there are more and more of us buying this product I don't see why there already isn't different parameters already setup.

I have not turned on afr tracking as of yet since I still have to tune the hi throttle settings, weather here hasn't been stellar lately and will get on the road soon.

I also have decided to get rid of the UTEC since once the base timing is down it's rarely ever changed. I feel a flash is much better to suit my needs now. I would hate to get rid of it since their logging feature is great, but a scantool can do the same.

Good job Dave on getting this product. Once you get one I want to call you and get some ideas to you that I have.

Anyway i just need someone around that will help me when i get the Maftpro

We are a stocking dealer of the MAFTPro and have been testing it for the last 2 weeks. We also had Joey's reflash done at CFT with help from our friends at JEstrtuning.com.

Patience is required with this unit. We are still learning all the features of the system. The software is under constant improvement and the updates are free. The logging capability is enormous at 26 parameters and a nice sampling rate!

I would agree with Dave that there is minimal if any gain from removing the MAF. Our tune was VERY "tight" with the SAFC tuned with MAP as the load. This unit however is fully featured with Boost Control, AIT correction, AFR tracking (auto correction), and timing control is in the works. Future updates may even include programmable launch control. It is a near standalone with the most important feature of the stock ECU intact, knock control and retard!

Bob and I are working on a custom VE map for 280's and hope to have this completed shortly. In upcoming weeks there will be enough tuned .bin files around to have a speed density conversion up and running in an hour or so complete with driveable VE maps for different cam combinations.

This unit has been in our under development Stage IV upgrade list for two weeks. We hope to use it to squeeze just a little more out of the stock turbo before moving on to bigger an better things. We understand most customers will never upgrade from the stock turbo and it is nice to have a unit that will maximize the stocker's output. However for those determined to upgrade the hairdryer, this will also be the missing link in moving from MAF to speed density MAP without the need to go full standalone. Upgrade turbo users will not have to worry about over-running the stock MAF HZ limit and accuracy.

PM me and I will see if I can help. It is not very user friendly at first, but once you upload the bin, xdl file and set up aldl path, the info gets saved so when you return, you are basically where you left off.

TTP I saw your site before that post and was about to post up that you guys sell it as a whole package for speed density. I think I may be ordering one today, where are you located?

We are in central FL. I think there is a glitch in our site for new users and "states" so PM me or email sales@ttp-engineering with your request and we can place orders that way for the meantime.

Thanks!

Might be another solution but the price is still $100 more. Plus i don't think the Greddy ever figured out the wasted spark problem with people frying their coils.

Yes it is a lot better than an SAFC, I use to have one. The maftpro has a lot more features. And no you don't need a laptop to use, on the unit there is a 5 button keypad to enter in all of the information.
