Anyone used a Greddy Type R?

I have a greddy type s right now. It worked great with my stock turbo and stock IC pipes. Then I installed new upper ic pipe and White Rabbit, oh and a 2.3 short block. Now we are not getting along so well. I have tried from loose 1 spring to fairly tight 1.5 spring. It either surges on lift throttle, or it will sound like a gobbling turkey at part throttle in fourth and fifth. I would assume that what I am hearing is compressor surge and that it is not good. So I am looking at other options and I might be able to get a good deal on a used type R. So does anyone have anything good/bad to say about it? I realise that I am throwing parts at my problem, but every DV/blow off valve seems to be a little different and I need to find the right combination for my car. The only affordable way to do so is to buy used and try it, that way if it does not work I can re-sell for the same price and not loose my rear in the process of elimination.....
