how do you know if your turbo is dying on you? or it's going bad?

please advise.

blows smoke, whines, leaks oil, falls off.

The easy way to test is pull the intake off and pull on the impeller. If it moves more than a cant hair, you could have some problems.

what bolsen said, plus slow spool, and low boost pressure. Normally a turbo more a less self destructs. It's not a chronic problem, but more acute. When it goes, it goes.
