cannot rev past 4k....
has anyone have this problem...i installed a blitz intake on my '03 evo...was workin fine for awhile...then one time on the freeway i can't rev past 4k on 5th gear goin around 95-90 mph...car starts to shake and a burnt smell comes if i try to push it past 4k...light comes on...had it checked...misfire code comes up...anyone might know the cause??
Seems like your hitting the fuel or boost cut. Most aftermarket intakes will cause the MAF to read high. You need to get a retune for your intake or atleast a AFC. The smell of fuel is most likely because your running rich as hell because of the intake.
i don't smell the fuel anymore since i put the intake...since our cars run rich...yeah...i was thinkin it might be tunin too...but why would the car not go?...what's holdin it back?...everything is plugged in....
if it ain't stock...it ain't hot...haha

Burnt smell doesn't sound like anything good. Take the intake off and take your car to the dealer to have it checked out, then if nothing is wrong put it back on and get a tune.

naw...it ain't my clutch...how can it?...car still runs great...i'll try putting the stock box on there and see if things go back to normal...it does, i prolly need a tune...but the thing i'm wonderin about is what is it that prevents it to not past 4k????....it's not bottoming out...it feels like speed is jus holdin steady, but if i push it the car vibrates and some burnin smell comes...but thanks for the imput guys...how can i learn to tune? (is there any books on it or a web site that will tell all about cam/ignition timing, fuel, and a/f)....and is it me or are we all losing boost over time? (still boostin at 3k)....or are we jus gettin used to the power of the Evolution =)???

ya we get used to the power over time, and you know there was this great article on here from a guy named steve something, find it, and it is a great started for ignition/ mainly cam timing, and then get yourself on socalevo.net and there is a bunch of techy stuff there to help with doing tuning yourself..... hope that helps
thanks...i'll see if i can find steve whoever...man u should hear that blitz intake...can hear the turbo suckin loads of air hella loud and even makes the stock bov hella loud...did i mention it was hella loud???...haha...but ****, i need to learn how to tune...don't really wanna put down a couple bills for tunin...

not matter what u go to tune with its gonna cost a hundred or two. do it right or u'll regret it. do a flash its simple and worth the money. turbotrix.com or dynoflash.com both offer really great flashes.
