Yea it is on the stock IC. I have installed several LICP on evos and never once have I had this much trouble with fitment. I was really suprised because I have always heard such great things about AMS. I tried adjusting the pipe several different ways with two friends and no matter what I tried it still had poor fitment. Like it barely hits the bumper now but it still does enough to push bumper up slightly. I guess I will try to reinstall it next time I put the car on the lift at my shop. If you get some pics let me know.

No way can this thing be installed in 15 minutes

I just spent the last hour undoing my undertray, bumper and piping.

My wife walked out to the garage, laughed at me and the 30 bolts and screws laying on the ground(not to mention my bumper leaning against the wall) and went back in the house.

Anyway, having fun with learning curve of install, but I am a tard if this should take 15 minutes. Maybe I am any way you look at it.

Couple of issues:

I dont understand how this unit is better than stock.

It has two seperate pieces of piping and three connectors(initial one being the stock intercooler to LICP connection). The stock one is only one piece of pipe with two brackets to secure its mounting on the car. The AMS one has zero.

Also, why am I using the stock connector on one pipe and two new ones that were sent with the kit?

Shouldnt there have been ALL Three?

How tight should these connectors be secured? I used a ratchet wrench to tighten them (no torque values).

I will go drive car and report back in about an hour.

Any answers to these few questions would b e appreciated.

I used all T bolt and I tightened them like woah, and I didn't understand why you have to reuses the garbage stock hose for the intercooler to LICP. They should definitely include a silicon hose for there as well. Overall I didn't notice much gain from the pipes other than that I had to turn up boost.

ultimate-

the kit came with two peices of piping and two connectors. Using the two two pieces of piping, you will need three connectors to get the job done. I was sent only two. What did your kit come with?

Take a look at the pictures on AMS's website. There they show the two connectors and two pieces of piping. they do not show the first connector that you would need to connect it to the intercooler.

Any pictures?

I just installed the JDM MR dv and the AMS LICP.

Car was spiking to 23psi on 91 oct tune. CAr would not go any higher than 24 psi on 100 oct map due to heat? stock dv? boost leaks in piping or connectors? Don't know.

Anyway, on 91 map, 3rd gear pull, car spiked up to 27PSI very quickly, so I let off the gas and smiled! Not because of the 27 psi on 91 oct...I now know that their was a leak somewhere and that by changing these two parts and tightening everything, the car is not leaking anymore.

Now, with the 10.5 hotside and a good tune, I think the car will amek some really good power...especially on race gas.

Hope this helps anyone thinking of these parts to install or those that have still not gone over the car checking for leaks.

I had a LICP fabricated by djtmotorsports, using the AMS licp as the model for the piece, and it fits fine. Instead of 2 pieces(AMS) we had it done as one whole piece with the taper towards the turbo housing. It's slightly bigger piping than the AMS unit, but technically the same shape, as one piece. It made a big difference in the spool up of the turbo!

I have the Injen hard pipe kit also, but the car definitely pullled a little harder, well more like quicker, with the lower IC (hotside) pipe installed. If you did not feel a difference with the lower IC pipe (hotside), you might need a tune for it. It affects the turbo more significantly than the cold side one.

I'm flashed for the mods and have the mbc set to 21psi and the car runs great all day long. If you guys need a lower IC pipe made... pm me and I can give you the info or pm djtmotorsports.

** forgot to add... my stock, although banged up, undertray is still on and works fine with the lower IC pipe. Does not rub on anything and no "noises" except for a nice spool up noise from the turbo.

I don't use my undertray. After taking if off and putting it back on about 2 times I said screw it and put it in the garbage can.
Taking off the front bumper...5 minutes
uninstall stock licp, install ams licp...5 minutes
reinstalling front bumper...5 minutes
=15 minutes
maybe at the end of this I should have said: ams parts...priceless

So your AMS LICP doesn't rub your front bumper at all, do you have any pics.

Are you using the stock hose from the IC? I tried multiple times to adjust it and nothing helped. I will try again over XMAS break when I install the next set of mods.

Take a look at the pictures on AMS's website. There they show the two connectors and two pieces of piping. they do not show the first connector that you would need to connect it to the intercooler.

Any pictures?

your suppose to use your stock one, it says so in the instructions.
