Solid Rear Motor Mount

How bad do you think the vibration from a solid aluminum rear mount would be? I have a lathe and a nice chunk of aluminum taunting me. I will keep the other mounts stock until the powerflex ones arrive. Anyone ever install a solid mount on the rear?

Ralliart makes a stiffer rubber rear mount for Group N rally. Here's a part number in case you want it:

RA369343K1 Insulator, E/G Roll (Rear) 01 Rubber hardness = Hs90

I have the ralliart mounts in my car which are hardened rubber, and transmit a lot more vibration than the stock mounts. I used solid aluminum mounts in my shifter kart at one point and it vibrated so badly that my a$$ went numb. I'd imagine it won't be as bad as that, but certainly going to take away some comfort on the street.

I am considering some made from Delrin or going solid on all three. I have run Solids in big and small block mopars, SVO stang and few others with no problems. Might also take care of the random t-case leak after a few hard launches.

I just want to change that 1 rear mount. Hopefully it won't be to bad. I just want smooth shifts when I launch.

Nubby- Where did you get that part# from? The Ralliart mounts I have does not include that part number. The rear mount is 2 pieces and I was under the impression that the Ralliart kit only replaces on of the bushings in the rear mount. The part # for the Rear Roll Insulator I have is RA554855K1. I think that part # you gave may fit Evo V's and VI's?

We are making a front and rear motor mount set. Been working on it for too long. Ran into many problems getting them done. I now can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it is going to get done. We have been trying to machine them but now are having a company actually cast them for use.

It will be a complete new insert for the front and rear mount on the transmission. Keeps the engine from "rocking". 100% solid polyurethane. You will just have to press the old insert out and then press ours in.

This is going to stop ripped i/c pipes, i/c pipes from popping off, help with shifting. It is a huge improvement.

As to the answer on the one solid aluminum mount, I don't think you will hardly notice.

Sweet, get those things done so I don't have to machine my own. Although the solid mounts sound like fun in a sick a perverted way

OT: Did you get the relief pockets enlarged on the stroker pistons? What cams was Al running when he ran into clearance issues? I am going to run the Piper race cams and need to make sure I have enough clearance. The race cams have more 12mm lift and a little more @ 1mm then the HKS 280's.

Yes, the relief pockets on the stroker pistons are much larger than they use to be. Al runs the Jun cams.
