Hey guys I need some advice on something. Any and all responses are welcome.
I have decided to probably go the testpipe/swap in cat for inspection route. Before I start, has anyone had problems with taking their car for service and then having the mechanic see there is no cat when it is up on a lift?
Here is my dilemna. I currently have a 3" catback, stock cat and HKS 2.5" downpipe. I obviously want to eliminate the cat and maybe go with a larger downpipe. I could go 2 ways.
1. Replace the HKS downpipe with a Helix 3" and replace the cat with a test pipe. When inspection comes, I just swap out the test pipe and put the cat in, leaving the Helix on as it bolts to the stock cat fine, has those oval holes in flanges, right? I would have to sell the HKS downpipe.
2. Take out the HKS and stock cat as a unit and replace it with the DC downpipe. No need for a testpipe as it eliminates the cat already, it is a longer downpipe. During emissions, just plug the HKS DP/cat combo. I also get to keep the HKS DP with this option.
Which would be easier? Is it possible to remove the the DP and cat together from under the car? How is the fitment of the DC compared to the Helix? Also will swapping the dwonpipe for inspections take it's toll on the donut gasket.
Actually does the DC pipe utilize the stock donut gasket? Thank you.

most inspectors dont even check. long as your ecu not throwing a cell you should be fine. They dont run sniffers or load dyno on obd2 cars. I guess they feel ecu is smart enough to catch any problems.
For me I just run a mechanical 02 fix and leave it catless for inspection, they just plug into your obdII and make sure there is no codes basically. The doughnut for the dp I have personally reused 4 times so far with my car with no problems or leaks.
