Heat discoloration ...

I have noticed alot of wild shaped turbo manifold out there (compared to stock) whenever i look at magazines . One thing i have also noticed is the lack of the heat shields that go over them . The question i have is, with the shapes varying so wildly from stock , will the stock heat shield still fit over these manifolds ? I have noticed some DEI wrap on some but never noticed if the hood was covered to prevent discoloration and warping from heat.

I have a Megan manifold and the stock heat shields cannot be used with it. The curves of the Megan come up higher, and also the heat shields bolt directly onto the stock manifold; the Megan doesn't have any places to mount the shields onto.

That being said, I haven't really noticed any difference in engine temps or anything. The only noticeable difference is that there are a lot more heat waves coming out of my hood vent.

Tubular manifolds don't really need heat shields. It's the cast pieces, like the stock one, that require a heat shield.

Lord knows there's no performance difference.

I kid, I kid. As long as nothing melts (hood) and the alternator stays reasonably cool it shouldn't really matter. Theoretically using insulation like heatwrap or ceramic coating should improve power slightly, but it probably does not make for significant gains.

ceramic coating or jet coating will cover the heat discoloration
in other words , you wont see it
