boost spike?

I was out this weekend (in chicago) and it was rather cold that day. I have the hallman pro-rx manual boost controller . For winter I tuned my boost all the way down to about 14psi. I was out on the highway messing around and noticed this:
I hold 14psi till about 5k when it hits that it spikes to about 26-28psi????
Is the spring in the mbc just frozen??? any1 else in cold climates having/seen this?

That's very strange. I'd double-check all the hoses.

Also, why in the world would you turn boost down to 14psi in the winter?? YOu can run MORE boost than normal in the cold weather without knock.

Happened to me too, only after a carwash when it was like 2 degrees outside. Take off the mbc, take it inside for a bit, then put it back on, i was cured, only I was boosting way over 28 psi, and i got some major fuel cut, you should have too. I would think this would happen right off the bat, not when your car is warmed up though...
