Single flapper is the new design. Dual flapper is the old design that was on the 9.8 hotside.

Brand should not be an issue when getting a 10.5. IT should just be a regular Mitsu turbine.

The single flapper is supposed to be better (smoother flow) but i dought you would feel or notice any difference between the two.

mitsu's 10.5 hotside is the single flapper , so a single is the one i would buy
you could try getting it from mitsu parts department

I just looked at the designed differences and it appears that I have the dual flapper.

I would assume the single flapper is an improvement by mitsu and that it holds boost better.

It has much less surface area for exhaust gasses to push the door open when not commanded (under boost build). I would say that the single flapper holds boost better with factory actuator.

If you have the dual flapper (like me) and are sad, get an aftermarket actuator and the design difference wont matter.

So, does a single flapper hotside fit on an originally double flapper turbo without any modifications?

Both the Single and Dual flapper are designs. The dual flapper 10.5 hotside was on the evo 6.5 RS TME turbo. In 2005 revised the WG flapper from a dual flapper to a single flapper, it just happened to coincide with the switch from 9.8 housings to 10.5 housings. Every mitsu housing made from 2005 on is a single flapper 10.5.
