Dyno sheets yet? Interesting theory about running the HKS exhaust with the OEM intake. let us know how it works.

Evo8 intake camshafts will not work well in an Evo9. The MIVEC system in the Evo9 is driven by oil pressure supplied to the intake cam gear via holes in the camshaft bearing/journal surface. The HKS cams (that you have installed?) will physically fit in the head but because they are solid and lack the nessessary oil passages they will render the MIVEC useless.

So if it physically fits but is only lacking oil passages, why not have them machined in? I havent torn mine apart yet or looked at any diagrams, but from what you just explained it doesnt seem like a hard fix to me.

MIVEC is only on the intake cam, and he installed a 272 duration exhaust cam from a VIII. A VIII intake cam will not fit.

hmm.....since we now know that the exhaust cam definetly fits and works well, does anybody know if they are revising the exhaust cam or keeping it the same and just making an intake cam.. anybody find out when the intake cam is being released? i'm debating buying and exhaust cam and installing that...i plan on ordering quite a few parts by friday.

Thanks

The exhaust cam makes a large difference in low speed driving - the car feels very strong. Almost like a 2.2, I'm quite impressed with the everyday driveability. Not to mention when the pedal drops, it hits harder. I cant wait to see how the torque maps out.

Also - interesting to note that I have my old EVO 8 camshafts in the garage. I suppose I could compare the 9 exh cam to the 8 exhaust cam. I wonder if they are the same?

We may see some dyno numbers before Friday.. maybe

Put a water or meth injection kit to the mix and 400+whp should be no problem.
