Are EVO VIII and IX exhaust manifold and 02 housing the same? Will after market manifolf and 02 on the market right now fit the IX? They look the same, but just want to make sure.

 

Well, I can tell you a buddy of mine had to modify a custom evo 8 o2 housing he had, but otherwise it bolted up perfectly. His problem was the placement of the o2 sensor. The exhaust etc... was all made for an Evo 8 and bolted up nicely...

 

May I ask what did he modify on the 02 housing in order to fit the IX? Anyone have first hand experience with aftermarket 02 and exhaust manifold on the IX?

 

He moved the o2 bung a little bit. It was custom made by a shop, so I'd imagine the mass produced ones would be different, and probably fit. Only one way to tell for sure is to snag one of them cheap $80 ones from ebay and give it a go. You could always sell it if it did not fit, which I doubt.

 

IX is the same everything except the head(mivec) The turbo is the same, hotside is the same as 05 and the bottom end is the same. Shouldnt be a problem. Get a good named product and you shoudnt have any bolting up issues.

 

no, the compressor housing is bigger then the 05 turbo, The piston rings are revised, and the pistons are stronger i guess (at least motor trend said they were)
