280 exhaust cam on IX

Yet another camshaft question...Since the intake cam isn't out yet for the IX, and we now know the 272 definetly works on the IX. I was thinking about installing a 280 hks on my car. i dont know which cams hks is developing. if they only come out with a 272 would it be able to run 272i / 280e or would that be a bad idea?
also any idea how the car might run with a 280? bad idea?

cheers

We don't know that the 272e works in terms of power gains. We only know it is a direct bolt-on, so I would assume the 280 is as well, but there's no guarantee that it will make additional power.

Feel free to try it out and let us know!

doesn't it make the car a little beastier in the top end...thats what i'm aiming for...evo's kill anything off the line or at low speeds, but on the highway they can be a little disappointing.

In the VIIIs, yes, but you don't have to get a 280 just to have good top-end. I don't recommend doing much high gear/high rpm driving in public, though.

Someone else on here posted their impressions after the 272e install and he claimed there was a hell of a difference. He said hes getting dynoed soon so we'll see. Go for the 280's and let us know.

Who? Other than Smokin' Joe, who already posted his dyno sheets, I hadn't seen anyone else. Do you remember who it was?

didn't he get a few things installed at the same time though?

Smokin' Joe did, yes. It's hard for regular owners like us to do exact before and after comparisons, but he did the best he could. The evidence was inconclusive on whether or not his 272 exhaust cam helped at all or not.
