Clutch let go :(

So I am pulling out of work yesterday and I start on the whole 8 mile drive to the house. I waited until the car got up to temp, and decided to make a short run down a back road to gather some data for my UTEC to 'refine' the maps. I am running about 25 in 3rd, and stomp the go pedal. The 3071 starts to build a little boost, and then a little more, I hit around 4K rpm and all of sudden the motor revs up to 7K.

Time for a new clutch!!!!!!!! This really sucks because I am signing papers today to buy yet another toy (fishing boat), and I am leaving for Lake Tahoe to go snow boarding next week. Oh well..... can't take it with you.

Just thought I would share with my fellow evo owners. 24598 miles on the stock clutch. Some probably have put more miles on their stockers than me, but oh well.

Let me start researching the forum.... I will update later.

The only thing that makes sense to me why people blow through clutches so fast is by pushing more power through the stock clutch and lots of **granted abuse** given it is a inspiring car. I have 10k on my stock and plan to get (crosses fingers) 50k given i drive it like a baby 90% of the time

Not exactly . 90% of the year its snowy lol , 10% of the year its sunny and i can go to the track. I have my turbo civic to beat the hell out of, and if that blows wont cost to much to fix. new motor 500 bucks , new t03 couple hundred . But I like to get my money out of every thing I buy .

You know, it is funny you should say that. I got mine and I am so worried about breaking something that will cost $$$ that sometimes I think I should have just got a Kia that I could drive like I stole. It is pretty stupid I guess but all these post about clutch and drivetrain problems have me paranoid.

Mine is bone stock and I'm at about 44k right now. Absolutely NO launches or abuse on the clutch whatsoever. Just at about 42 it started getting kinda soft. It still holds, but it just seems a lot softer engaging it. Like on upshifts, I can clutch in-clutch out without even being "careful" and it's butter smooth. Usually it should jerk or something like that, know what I mean? And for takeoffs, it's getting harder and harder to modulate. I've never actually had a clutch go out on me, so I'm guessing those are the beginning signs of a fading clutch. So I'm hoping to get 50k out of it, but I'm lining up another clutch with my tax refund just in case.
