GSC 272's with cam gears

Hey guys i just ordered my gsc 272s, im thinking do i want cam gears, so people with 272s with cam gears what did you set them at? for maximum gain and good idle. Chris from logic performance told me that the cams were micro polished so there would be no idle issues is that true? any info would be great

I have the gsc cam and it idles like a change, hasn't stalled yet, the micropolished I thought was just to allow for quicker break in time of the cams, its just on the lobes that they are polished if I am not mistakened

you should cancel your order and get HKS cams...more lift and more duration than GSC. Yea they are about $150 more but it's not something you buy all the time.

Do you have any proof they make more power, cause I haven't seen one example that they do.

Ive got their 272i cam with a slight lope in idle. If your going to get tuned by Dynoflash he says he's perfected getting the 272 cam to idle like stock.

do you have any proof that the GSC's make more power, besides posts by GSC?

Granted ramp profiles of the two different cams are not known, but it is fairly safe to say, given that they have lower duration and lift, that they will make less power.

I didn't say GSC made more power, but I am saying that I think the power difference between the two is minor and that I would rather spend the extra money elsewhere (aka buy an 02 housing or something)

I suppose to each, his own. FWIW, I have GSC cams. I wish I had just coughed up the additional money for HKS ones. No one has done a back to back test so we don't know how large the power difference is, regardless, it isn't in favor of GSC.

Further, the real specs for the cams that were supposed to be HKS cam copies were released just a month or two back (what was it, a year after the release? ), showing that they are NOT the same specs as HKS and are at a disadvantage to HKS cams if anything.

THat's not true.

Talk to the guys at Tuning Technologies. From their experience the GSC's make more power.

My GSC cams from Logic Performance where NOT polished. The entire cam, including the lobes, had a rough black finish. I ordered 272 intake 264 exhaust and they do perform great. The car absolutely screams across the top end, and it's still strong down low.

Too bad it's such a pain to switch out cams...I'd like to see a comparison between the different brands and sizes, but it would require tuning for each.

I just order the GSC 272's straight, and got the cam gears also. In about a month I'll tell you how I dyno when I get it tuned.
