272 owners....

I had 272's put in my car last week. The day after they were installed, I got the SES light for the p0300 misfire code. I couldn't tell when it came on cause my boost gauge is in front of it. I tried reseting it by disconnecting the battery, but it came back. I decided to replace my spark plugs to see if that would fix it since it was about due for some new ones.

I replaced the plugs and took it out for a spin. Seemed fine and the SES light didn't come on. When i got back, I was looking at the old plugs and noticed on one that there was a black mark on it (like some thing arced on on it) where the plug wire connects to it.

This made me think that the guy that installed my cams didn't put one of the wires down all the way. Well....I drove my car for about 3 days no and today it came back while idling in a drive thru. Does this have soemthing to do with the cams that I wasn't aware of or do you guys think there is somehting else?

I know there is the reflash from the dealer, but that will erase my tune. I figure I'd try everything that I can before I have to do that and have to ship out my ECU. Could it be possible it's time to change teh wires?

Thanks.....

I used to get the p300 code all the time. I adjusted the cam gears to -2/-1 and it went away plus I have the the best top end power for my car.

I'm just trying to limit the things that it could be. I really don't thnk it has anything to do with the cams, but I figured I'd ask.

Anyine have any ideas what it could be?

yes, the P0300 code has occured after cam installs. There are threads on this topic, but I haven't read them since I don't have the problem. I'd try a search and see what you come up with.

What code will show up by messing with the idle? The same p0300?

I have 272s with no idle problems or codes but I also had to tune the car slightly to get it to do so.

Yeah....I was thinking of that as well. My custom tune is for my 264's I had in my car before the 272's. I'm not sure if that will make any differnce or not.

You should be fine either way, they really didn't idle that bad before I tuned it, they just needed some minor adjustments

I get the same code from the 272 cam at idle. Only way to get ride of it is to have the lope tuned out.
