Im having serious bov problems

I know they are a million threads talking about which bov is the best but first i got to get my problem addressed. Well my car came with the Turbosmart dual port bov. Isnt this bov supppose to be one of the best from people saying it on this site? Well this thing sucks. Its VTA and my car stalls sooo much and just the way the car runs it hates the bov too. ive tried to adjust it but it does nothing.... I had it out tonight and i drove it for 5mins and i took it back home i cant stand it anymore. Anyone got any choices of alternatives i can switch out to and not have these problems would be awesome and appreciated

I know somebody who uses that bov and he has no problem whatsoever. I think hes running half vta half recirculated, now if your running the full vta, I dont think that would work to well..

If your bov is giving you problem then replace it with this:

Just kidding, change it to IX or APS.

Put the stock one back in or get a jdm MR one. They say the plastic one leaks but unless you are running higher than stock boost, I think you will be fine. If you are running higher than stock boost, than get the jdm MR one.

Yeah, man, why haven't you just put the stocker back on? People don't say the Turbosmart is one of the best, but it's ok, I guess. Slap on the stocker to ensure that your problem is BOV-related. Do you have an aftermarket intake by chance? That could be the problem or even a big boost leak at an IC pipe connection...

Alias has the right idea. Try the stock BOV first. If you're looking to run more boost, then try the JDM MR or a IX (they're about the same thing).

Another reason you might be stalling is the tune. If you've added things here and there and never tuned for the upgrades, then your car will run poorly. It could also be a poor tune all by itself.

Well first off. I dont have the stock one cause i bought the car with the Turbosmart on it. Also these are the mods that are done:

Apexi intake
boost controller
3in rsr downpipe with cat delete extension
3in catback
car has been flashed
that bov
and a clutch

Thas all thats done to it. From the stock Ralliart boost gauge its reading im hitting around 22-24 pounds at woot. And im planning on running more very soon. We have been thinking i got a boost leak every now and then cause sometimes it will hit around that boost and sometimes its lower around 20 psi but who knows if my gauge is right or not? Ive checked all connections from the intake to all the hoses on the intercooler piping and everything is tight as it can be. I think its my bov. Cause it just seems my car hates it a lot. If i play with the throttle some it will get into this stage where the bov will realse pressure like 4 times in a row like a whosh whosh whosh and then a big whosh and the car dogs really bad after this. I know this might sound stupid what i just put but this is whats really going on with the car.

if your considering running higher boost in the future, i would take a look at the forge recirc bov, ive heard many good things about it. i have the aps, and have never had any issues at all. do u know anybody in your area with an evo, maybe you could swap in a bov and drive it around, see if thats actually your problem.
good luck.

I wouldn't be surprised if you got a bad tune from whoever tuned it. You may want to have a different tuner take a look at it. Perhaps he would also be able to recommend a better BOV if that's the problem too.

Find someone willing to let you try their stock one - or one they don't have issues with. Then you can isolate whether the problem is really the BOV or not.

That's not likely. It sounds like he's definitely having trouble with his BOV. I don't see how you could conclude that it's tuning-related.

03silverevo, there has to be someone with an Evo around you. You can't be the only person in the town with an Evo. YOu just need to find a stock BOV and slap it on. That will tell you right away without going through all this trouble. If you have to, just buy a Forge RS DV and slap it on, then sell the Turbosmart. Do something - talking on here won't fix it.

I thought it may be the tune because he's stalling. I haven't heard to many BOV's being directly related to stalling. That said, I have to agree with the other guys - go borrow a BOV and slap it on your ride for a couple of test runs.

I have a JDM MR BOV sitting in my garage I could sell you. Send me a PM if you're interested.
