Intercooler piping.

Hey guys I fitted a new intercooler kit to my evo 7 the other day.
The hard pipes are a good bit bigger than standard.
Since fitting it my boost has increased slightly before it used to peak at 1.3 bar and now it peaks to 1.4 bar.
I may be being abit paranoid but I dont know if its feels the same as before plus the engine or induction noise is louder.
Would the wider piping be making the turbo struggle to push the air through.
Have any of you guys experienced anything similar.
I might just get her dyno'd to see.

If volume goes up, pressure goes down. Thats basically what you did. If you put smaller IC pipes on it would be the opposite (volume down, pressure up). The more volume should allow for some more boost, that makes sense.

As for the louder noise... you might have a boost leak. This is very common when installing IC pipes. You might think the clamps are tight enough but sometimes they are not. You should definitely do a pressure test to see if you have any leaks, that may account for the air noise.

Cool

well being that the pipes are bigger, the turbo will work easier because there is no resistance against the turbo to "push" the air. when i put my intercooler pipes on, it was a bit "louder", but it did spool quicker/easier because of the hard pipes. the pipes also eliminate some bends in the intake track to the manifold. that is why you are seeing a peak higher than your last intercooler. less resistance. now go have a beer
