I need help deciding what to do

I currently have all the mods in my sig installed or sitting around my room. Im looking for a total build cost under 8,000 with install of any parts and including install of the RnR 35R kit. Here is what Im almost sure to be buying...

Exedy Twin HD about 1500 plus 500 for install
Install RnR kit about 300-500
AEM EMS 2400 w/ 2 maps and all sensors (buschur website) about 150 to install

so thats a total of around 5,050 bucks leaving 3,000 or so to spend. I just cant decide what to spend it on that will be worth the money. Stroker is too expensive with install, I think its in the 5k range although Id love a stroker motor. Alchy injection may be a good idea and would still leave me about 2,400 or so. Would a built shortblock be an option here and how much would it benefit me with the mods I have? Higher boost on race gas...? Maybe a buschur stage 3 head? Also, saving for a year and then getting the stroker is not an option. Any ideas would be great or anything I forgot let me know. Im stuck here with a turbo by my side and need to make a decision, I'd like to just get everything done at once. Ive searched thru threads for days and only come out more confused what to do.

Another idea Ive been toying with is no AEM, run on a flash and use the money I save to get the stroker but Id really like 2 seperate maps, the control and safety with alchy the AEM can provide, and running VTA with no problems since I already have the Tial ....

If you get stroker you will need AEM ams to run it efficently.

I have talked to a place that does flashing, AMS, and was told they have already flashed a 2.3L with good results. Also, how much is a TRE tranny and what benefit would i get from it? I dont track my car that often and the tranny is in great shape as of now.

Well if they tell you Flashed 2.3L would do good on 35R with big injectors and you trust them go for it. ALso you know that being 2.3L would not make much power, litle more torque and faster spool 500-600RPM Faster.

8k to spent?? i'd do a TRE tranny/t-case for sure. then do an SMC alky kit, MM022HD clutch, AEM without the uego so it was like 1600$. thats about 8000$ right there.

You could get by without the AEM but I would recommend doing it. You will need it and with the route you are taking it is going to be best.

You also should get the AEM box you already referred to. You will need a wideband, map sensor, air temp sensor and my time tuning it is included in the price. The $1600 base box doesn't get you close to everything you will end up buying.

If you did a shortblock a lot of the labor you are looking to spend, if the job is done here, is covered in the shortblock removal. For example, we charge $1500 labor to do the engine job, but the clutch and turbo would be done while the engine is out so there would be no extra charge. This basically saves you $1,000 you were planning on spending on just a clutch/turbo install.

Thanks, I had read in a thread awhile ago if you were building the engine the clutch and turbo could be done at the same time for reduced price or for free depending on other things. Ill have to call up there sometime and talk details.

Tom, you want the aem.

You may want to think about intake mani and new throttle body. TC will be the first thing to go, so you might want to do that too. Also, whereever you get the stuff installed, try to buy as much from them as you can. Work out deals, there is plenty of room to play in the margins.

That is correct. If we are doing your engine we do the clutch, injectors, cams, MOST turbo kits and such all for free in the price of doing the engine job, which is $1500. The car is apart anyway, charging more would be robbery.

TRE tranny and TRE TC .... its better to do it while the car is being upgraded anyways .... it would suck if it broke down along the road.

Why buy a super laggy turbo with the stock low revving 2.0, dont waste your money.
Save your money and get a quick spooling 3071, with a flash, which makes great pump gas whp/trq.
And enjoy having a car thats actually responsive and fun to drive...

I decided to get the buschur 2.3 stroker motor with crower rods, AEM EMS, and EXedy HD twin. Some of the big reasons I decided to go with buschur was they actually helped me decide what to do, provided some good answers to my questions, and have an outstanding reputation in the biz. Some shops were not very helpfull and others wanted to charge way more than most. Thanks buschur!
