And just so you know the reason, THE TURBO IS WATERCOOLED!! but if you do upgrade to a turbo and it doesnt have coolant ports than a turbo timer will serve a purpose.

Watercooled? I thought they were oil cooled......regardless, for 80 bux, they are worth it even if they only help the bearings a little.

Oil is in it for cooling and lubrication, pretty much the same purpose it serves in your engine. Water runs through it for a reason if it is not watercooled then why in the hell would mitsu run water through it.

All turbo timers are pretty much the same. I have one just to be on the safe side. But yeah, blah blah blah they're water cooled. This has been a topic floating around evoM for forever. I don't think there's one REAL answer as to how effective or ineffective a turbo timer for evo's really is.

If you plan on getting an Alarm, you can get the Timer as part of your package...Just something to consider.

as mdsevo06 said, some alarm/remote car starters (noticed you lived in MI) such as Compustar have turbo timers built in.

I had the apex unit in my car, but I took it out, frankly becasue I never used it. And when I did, it was never in a situation that I needed to. I just dont like having useless aftermarket electronics on my car...just another thing that can break and leave the car running, or stall it, or whatever.

The Apex is a nice unit though if for whatever reason you feel you need it.

They do come in handy sometimes. If you're on date, you don't wanna wait 3-4 minutes with the girl on your car right? she's going to say WTF what are we waiting for? Try explaining why you are waiting and trust me they'll be **** about it. So it does serve a purpose and yes it does help but you don't really need it.

I just installed the apexi but noticed that the headlights on daytime auto don't go off until the car shuts off from the preset timer (usually 20 seconds) and the door is opened.

The problem is that after 20 seconds I am not in my car and usually in my house, is there anyway for me to keep the headlights running on full auto and still use the turbo timer, or should I just shut off my damn lights when I leave the car?

Apexi is a nice unit and can be stowed practically anywhere.

3-4 minutes? What are you doing, going from your dates house to the retaurant at a constant 40 psi or something?

Alternate solution: dont drive like you have pole position at the Monaco GP, stay in vacuum for the last minute of your trip, and youl be fine.
