BLITZ SBC iD vs. Hallman/forge MBC

OK wanted to get and Idea of how diff these 2 would make on the same car for instance.
I Have a chance to get a new SBC ID for like $380 or the ol' fashioned Hallman or Forge MBC.
My buddy knows how to set up the Blitz w/ his eyes closed (used it on his old Highly tuned 180SX) and assures me he can set it up and it will be the best boost controller ever.
Seen a few threads on some people that used The Blitz and "them" and the Tuners Loved it becuase it HOLDS boost Dead on.
Is it the price or those MBC's works that well.I guess some people say Elec controlled is unreliable & horrible?

I feel better knowing the SBC monitors everything and warns me as well as my Gauges but can even set the Boost cut myself if overboosting happens. But the Hallman looks to be the one that EVERYONE uses.Guess you can't go wrong..but what made it that good?

Owners of each Chime in.

I think it would work just fine if its set up right. The problem most people have with EBC's is not knowing how to use them and the price.

I have a 2006 IX MR with a Forge MBC. I am getting OK results -- you can see my post about boost issue -- but I think a EBC is the way to go.

I am researching now and would love to have the ECU control everything.....

The Dejon Tool MBC, offers adjustable boost control at $60. You could use the remaining $320 on go-fast bits and a flash.

ok so it is the price...but DO MBC's actually hold boost better than a Elec one?
somehow I don't believe it...but I mean EVERYONE uses Hallman etc and I'm sure setting up a EBC is the issue...but my Friend says he's the man @ tuning the Blitz one.

I have a cheap OLD Hallman ES MBC but I just don't wvwn wanna try it.(got beat on it whenI got it and found out ot was the ES MBC)

I just replaced my turbo xs mbc with a blitz dsbc type-s (single solenoid) and it holds boost alot better than the mbc did. More consistent and doesn't spike like my old mbc.

I am a really big fan of either an adjustable WG Actuator or MBC. (If you plan to change your boost a lot then ignore the rest of this post)

I don't change my boost at all so they work best for me. An EBC properly tuned will only work as good as a MBC.

The only thing you will be missing with a MBC is the BLING factor and empty pockets. I have tried a ton of EBCs and MBCs and nothing is better then a proper MBC (hallman) or an adjutable WG Actuator.

I like the ease of adjusting from my steering wheel that you can't get with a mbc even with a cockpit kit

Its going to come down to what people use they think works the best. Both a good MBC and EBC will hold boost the with no problems. I like my EBC because I can change boost levels on the go just by hitting a button. Say I was to use my alcky I just hit the high boost button and change to my alcky maps with the utec. I'm also able to data log boost, rpm and A/F with my EBC. It can also cut the boost level if the A/F get to lean. Some may call this bling but to me its useful.

Sorry i don’t mean to throw the thread off, but what about the SBC-I color? I have a IX MR and i was looking at BC's, and i ran across the blitz http://www.blitz-performance.com/Blitz_SBC_iColor.htm , It says it includes the ability to view/control boost, speed , rpm, power, and HAS the option for A/F --- pressure reading. Personally i want a very sleek looking interior so this unit seemed top notch. I would most likely have it in the pillar if possible. IF i did buy this product, on the site above they are selling a few different things... it also says "Equation: MMD i-Color + SBC i-D = SBC i-Color." What would i need to buy exactly for boost control, RPM, Speed, A/F, and all the other goodies i need? Or all i need is a SBC i-Color Boost Controller? or would i also have to purchase the MMD i-Color Multi Function & Multi Angle Display? Sorry for the newb question ( my guess is that all i have to buy is the SBC I-Color boost controller + SBC i-Color Air/Fuel Box w/ Wide Band O2 Sensor)
??? ??? SORRY again if this is a LITTLE off topic, but the thread is about the blitz SBC

The I-color is more than I want to spend and I found the SBC-ID for like 380 shipped from japan...so I thought I'd jump on that deal and would feel better knowing ELEC is controlling my boost then a Knob and Ball design unit...Though I'll get one if need be.Best bang for the buck.

I like that I can make it cut boost and AF range too.extra Saftey.
SO its the price and how to program that is the main deterant of EBC's?
My friend swears by the SBC-ID so I think it will be great...unless AL tells me otherwise what to run.

I plan to stay @ one boost level and not move it @ all...but the EBC can stay at one Set limit THE BEST...so I've heard
