its much easier if you had air compressor.

Jack the car up as high as you canand use a breaker bar, a 16" pipe should do the trick.

could that damage the stud bolt? i remember we removed a catback from a hot cat and it broke the studbolt or crossthreaded it easily

if all else fails then use the heating method. Good luck.

put the other bolt back in, tighten it down and try it from there. sometimes taking the other bolt all the way out puts too much pressure on the other bolt. also, support the catalytic converter. dont let all the weight fall on just one bolt, that too can hinder the other bolt from coming off. good luck.

oh, once you get the bolts off-anti seize is your friend...

I use a 12" piece of copper tubing that I slip over my wratchet to get some extra leverage on bolts like that. See if you can find something around the house similar to that.

put a torch to it or use the double box wrench method.

LOL, your story sounds familiar...

When I received my TBE I tried to install it myself, I put the car on jack stands, then proceeded to remove the cat back. The first bolt was not moving at all (even with WD40), so I tried to remove the DP... that was even harder!!! At the end I couldn't do it so I took the car to Meineken and they did the whole thing for $75 in just 1 hour!

If you don't have the right tools (like an air compressor) you'll have a hard time.
