Not your normal exhaust question

I just got an email from my entire community making me aware of the fact that my car is way too loud now. I just had a GT35R kit installed, and the car is really really loud. Well it is too loud for the neighborhood as well as the homeowners association. So I need to get a new exhaust.

I need some reconditions from fellow evo owners as to which exhaust would be quiet but still provide decent performance. I would like to stay 3" if possible. Are there any out there that are fairly quiet?

I know on my old WRX the greddy evo was nice and quiet? Would that be a good choice?

Fujitsubo is very quiet, but I hear its due to being somewhat restrictive.

I'd say check out the Buschur, Greddy SP/Evo or possibly Agency Power.

I do know, stay away from anything with Ti or C/F. They are going to be loud!

wow... that's almost worse than from the cops! Have you thought about a cutout or something? Like running a smaller exhaust for in the 'hood and having a cutout or diverter to vent it when WOT or at the track?

I run the JIC 505 Stainless Steel version. It came with the resonator for the tip and that makes it almost as quiet as stock. If it wasnt for my TP it would be as quiet as stock.

I warm my car up every morning in my garage and I just slip that into the end of the muffler, clamp it in place and when I am ready to go, I use a pair of pliers to pull it out. Of course you could just leave it bolted in there and on the weekends yank it out when you leave in the middle of the day.

JIC is a little larger than 3" but has a neck down at the cat. People are so concerned with that but in reality I dont drive a 600whp car for it to make a difference. I pulled 227whp on a mustang dyno and 245 whp on a dyno dynamics with this system only, no other exhuast mods, just a cone filter.

You can always run a silencer and pop it out at the track. Not your best solution, but not a terrible or expensive one either.

hmmm, thanks for all the tips. There is a Fujitsubo, at my shop that I will try out. Hopefully that will be quiet enough. I may also pick up the greddy Evo, or SS exhaust. Thankfully all those cat backs are cheap. Hopefully it will work, if not, I may have to leave my car parked during the week, and buy a second car for daily drivin.

I do not know. My friend said that this exhaust had 3 resonators in the pipe, so I would assume that would make it really quiet.

i had the same problem....thats y i got a cutout out.....put your stock catback on there...and get a cutout welded into ur test pipe....you can get a manual or electric one....same amount of performance but when your going into a neighborhood you can close it so its "stock"!!!

Cutout is your best solution like everyone else said, to be quiet when you need to, and open it up and not lose any power by switching to something thats resonated.

Stock exhaust is a bad idea IMO. It weighs too much. Use the silencer in an exhaust of your choice and the cutout in a TP or just remove the silencer on the weekends and track days.

I dont like the cutout idea by thats my preference. It would be so loud all the time when racing and would annoy me.
