Good job Shiv. I can't wait to try the features out.

BTW, the XEDE is very easy to tune. Especially stock turbo cars.

Looks promising and very user definable, but is it user friendly. Meaning:

1) An Xede/Smart class offered at every Dyno/Tuning day?

2) An instructional tuning book developed and authored by Shiv and company (online and updated with each new pc of software)?

Being that I have not purchased an Xede system yet (soon), I'm concerned for the new users that come aboard (including myself). There's no doubt that the Vishnu/Exede threads are very helpful here on EvoM, but the question is, is the sytem user friendly? I would have to say that with out a detailed instructional guide of some kind or available consistant technical support, it would lead me to say, no, not completely. The Xede/Smart is treading on and surpassing software construction of stand-alone system capabilities. Set it and leave it, is not a user friendly type of system. The general idea is to tune your car for every added modification with the Xede/Smart. Ultimately, the thought is the user is doing the tuning and not having to wait for Shiv himself to make the Country rounds each year, or two.

IMHO, the support for the Xede comes exclusively from Vishnu and possibly Dyno4mance out East. A+ for every new pc of innovation software developed for the Xede/Smart, but can the average Joe understand it enough to set it up and tune it themselves?

My apologies, a bit off topic, but still has my compliments.

Soon to be an Xede/Smart subscriber,

Dave

FWIW, here's the XEDE's user manual/tuning guide:
Tuning Guide

It a very basic tuning guide. Doesn't discuss conditions or SMART functions. But presents more than enough info to explain how the XEDE works and how you can use it to your advantage. But with the baseline maps we offer and the support of the Vishnu vendor forum, most XEDE users don't even find the need to read it.

Regards,
shiv

BTW, so many people think the Xede must be tuned only by Shiv. Completely wrong. It is very easy to learn and use. Many tuners can use it and are using it around the country. Alfred from Tuning Technologies in SoCal, and Andrew from Dyno4mance in GA are the best known competent Xede tuners (aside from Shiv) and many others are good with it as well (Martin at AMS).
Alfred from Tuning Technologies in SoCal +1

It's most definitely user tunable. I have every map tweaked or completely reworked including SMART as my ECU is....er...not what the Xede base maps are based off of

You might not know, but Mark at TurboTrix can tune Xede too.

Will the boost compensation hardware and software be and optional addition to this?

Ditto here. I am going to be using my XEDE on top of an AMS flash.

New features

How about diagnostics, Shiv. Have you thought about that? Let's say our meth injectors get clogged or all of a sudden our fuel pump starts failing, Could the Xede pick up that there is a change that is occuring, like it has to correct and correct and each time it is getting worst or not getting better and it could trigger a SES to let us know which system has issues. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think it's possible to trigger the SES with the Xede. However, maybe the Xede status LED could change colors or something along those lines... flash a code for what it thinks has failed.

It's going to be tough to configure the XEDE to accept a meth/fuel pressure input from the methanol system. Tough, not impossible. However, I prefer the idea of monitoring A/F and inducing a boost cut (followed by a fuel cut) if anything goes awry. This protects the car against all kind of ills-- not just methanol jet clogging.

Thanks Shiv for replying.

I've read the "basic tuning guide" several times to prepare myself for modifying your existing base maps. The reason for posting in this thread is exactly what you stated. It does not discuss the added software or what may be called the "optional logic" capabilites of the Xede. The Smart, NLS, Conditional Logic parameters and anything else that eventually comes to market is what I'm referencing.

FWIW, I've tuned Accel/DFI and F.A.S.T. stand-alone sytems on my 1/4 mile cars in the past. Just looking for more detailed documentation for the added logic in Xede/Smart. That's all.

Thanks again,

Dave

Shiv,
When will the alky box be available? I have the AMS kit without the MAP and I am having issues getting the Xede to control it. Can I get one before the Houston Dyno day?
