1. Transmission rebuilt under warantee at 12000 miles. Crunched from 3000 miles.
2. I installed a new clutch at that time as a precaution since the original was 80% gone.
3. New rear differential under warrantee at 35000 miles.
4. New rear wing (which has been back ordered for two months.
5. Now I have curious grinding noises from either front dif or transfer case at low speeds and large turning angles.

No engine problems at 36000 miles.

I still love this car.

Mods. Intercooler pipes, downpipe, stock cat, cat back, mbc 20 psi, maf pipe, grounding kit, burshur air cleaner.

2003 Evo 8
Mods: Vishnu Stage 3 with 30 R Turbo.
400-500whp depending on what octane.
Ran around on the 450 whp map for over 10,000 miles.
I think I spun something when I broke it.
Oh yeah I spun out Aping it up as Team Vishnu is known for.
I am a full pledged Team Vishnu Hall of Famer(hall of shame) for this feat. If u havn't rolled a car u have not lived a full enthusiast's life and not the "Man" of men. Words straight from the "Street King" Vishnu Evo8.

You guys are forgetting THE failure... MSM_S2K/UT_Evo's Evo 8, 2003, 3076 miles... You know that big long thread about Mitsu voiding warranties, and those few magazine articles talking about it... that was us. Just to fill out your form though:

Model year: 03
Mods: 0 (brand new)
Miles: 3076, broken in properly (except the first 100 or so miles, which were unaccounted for)
Conditions: Driving normal, bam: rod knock, hooray!
Pics: If I can find them sometime, I'll get them up...
Race/Track History: 0
Contributing Factors: 50% chance Oil loss (why, well... no one knows or will tell us, sure wasn't our fault though... A few techs at the dealer said that there's no way a brand new engine should burn through all its oil that fast, and unless I'm mistaken there were no oil leaks)... 50% chance something else, maybe I pushed the self-destruct button on accident

Model year: 03
Mods: check my sig, the ams bottom end is obviosly not the one that blew
Miles: 39k
Conditions: pretty good
Pics: no pics of damage
Race/Track History: a few autox and a bunch of drag
Contributing Factors: failed oil pump causing all main and rod bearings to spin within miles after failure, GET AN OIL PRESSURE GAUGE YOU WILL THANK ME LATER!!!!! also note that there was no signs of detination on pistons, rods were also fine. used to have a dynoflash if that makes any difference becuase im kinda noticing a pattern with that lately.

Your head spun out of the road buddy.... You need less power

450 WHP is too much for you... I would stick with 150 WHP

150 whp is probably what the Malibu Maxx puts down to the fronts. So I have already taken ur expert advice old wise one. Also remember Azar I am not sized challenged like some people and I need all that extra Whp to get the car moving.

Interne Explorer I think you should upgrade to Firefox and loose few pounds.... That will make you run faster times...

I am exactly half your size... 165LBS

So are you getting a nine?

Inappropriate Expressions is what some think IE means from my internet Diatribes with Al et al. However, it means Inland Empire and it is Gangsta Slang up here in the IE.

The IX would be nice, but since quiting my good paying job, I do not have as much disposable income. Don't get me wrong I am still debt free but I plan on keeping it that way. If I can't pay a car off in two years or less I find it hard to purchase. Sorry HK for getting OT! My bad, however, u should be used to my OT ways.

i bet a lot of these spun bearings are due to oil starvation, I read somewhere that a DRY SUMP system is in the works, the stock pump is way too weak

we're missing the most publicised Evo engine failure ... ferrarrokid's at the SCC Tuner Challenge this year due to oil pump failure on built engine...

someone should sticky this thread.

Result: #2 piston melted (lean condition)
Race/Track History: 3rd time throught Quarter mile, 90% very humid.
Contributing Factors: Not checking my log files and seeing that improper settings for the AIT might have caused a lean condition.

Someone with an 04 has got to have blown eng.

I had an incident yesterday that may have resulted in a bearing fail but I'm lucky so far: Boosting 22psi 0n 93 hitting about 7500rpm and then the engine starts to fade off as if run out of gas.

I'm still troubleshooting, but for some strange reason the FP started running in full voltage mode "high" at low to mid throttle applications - normally runs high flow only at WOT.

It's Like the ECU senses low fuel and is sending full 12.5 vdc out to pump.

Except for noisy pump , it runs fine
