You want to torque them to 52 lb/ft. in a 18, 36, 52 sequence... Do it from the middle out, alternating from side to side as you progress to the outside, similar to a head stud torqe sequence... I'm assembling a motor myself currently at school, I go to Wyotech. If you need anything else I would be more than happy to help. Feel free to e-mail or pm me... you can check out my motor here...

Actually the last torque is done to 18ft/lbs and then mark the bolts with a line of paint and turn them all 90 degrees further. Use motor oil on the bolt threads. That's the way the manual say to do it.

Wow! You certainly have turned into the mechanic now, huh? I certainly hope you're better on this EVO than you were on that black 2G! At least the build looks a whole lot better. Keep it up.

Umm... how about the FACTORY MANUAL for the dealers! I know it seems odd, I have been wanting to find out how Buschur does it. I guess the way does it, it is based on tolerance's.

ok it is 18ft/lbs+90 degrees. now is there any trick to to centering these main caps? they can shift left to right since they don't use a dowel. thanks guys!

Dont worry about alignment. The girdle will self align when ran. Both torque methods work fine. The 90 degree method eliminates thread friction problems. You an torque to 52 but 10 can easily be lost to threads binding. If your assembly is clean you wont have a problem.

i did the 18ft/lbs + 90degrees and it was clicking my torque wrench at 65ft/lbs about 15 degrees from the full 90. must be at about 70 or so.

If you want a set of the Evo manuals in book form Jon from TRE www.teamrip.com has them in stock, they are about $225 but very well work it. It is a 3 book set and is very through.
