Just Replaced My Clutch
Just Replaced My Clutch
All I have to say is...... wow, never again will I do this on my back by myself. I'm a paying customer from here on out
Not that is was hard, but it wasn't easy either, things went "average". It's just a lot of work. Trying to balance the tranny on a floor jack is a pita, the release of the TOB is a pita, The rear motor/tranny mount is a complete disaster of a design! The re-install went much smoother than the dissassembly. All in all, 11 hrs of pretty much solid work.
Here's few pics of the stock unit I took out at 47K miles. And the disc thickness was .250". Warrtalon will probably say I baby the car by the looks of things (no blueing), but I do beat the crap out of it daily on the street. Either way, it's hard for me to understand how some people get less than 5K out of a stock clutch. Oh yeah, the car is making 320 whp.

I personally know a mexican dude(Demetrio)from Nogales that had his clutch replaced with 1800 miles after driving it hard and doing extreme launches, his car was a 05 and he just sold it.
I also know a friend(Abner) that replace the clutch at 43k miles and still did not need a clutch, he replaced it because he was fitting a larger block..
It all depends on your driving.

Yeah, that doesn't look bad at all. It is just worn out. Sure you put some heat into it, but nothing like others I have seen. A lot depends on how you define "beat the crap on it". For instance if people think they are being easy on their cars by super smooth, slow take offs and shifts. Sure that is easy on everything else but the clutch get cooked. In your case you may tend to drop the clutch more often, which is actually easy on the clutch.

Just a counterpoint, I am not saying you're wrong.
