Question Single vs double flapper hotside

Did a search to no avail...

Does anyone have hard numbers on the differences in power or spool, if there are any, between the new single flapper vs older double flapper 10.5 hotsides?? Getting ready to throw in a TME, but it has the double. If I was going to change it to the single, now is the time.

Funny i have searched this myself before i ordered my 10.5 and i found tons on this topic. The single flapper is just the new design the only thing changed i think is the wastegate ports gives alil smoother air flow ...there has yet to be shown any real difference between the single vs the double but I got the single both will give you good gains in mid-high range. Changing the hotside on the TME is a waste if your going to get the hotside get it to replace your 9.8 not change a perfectly good 10.5 on a TME to another 10.5.

There is no real data showing which one is better. The 10.5 on the TME is fine if you want to change it to a single go ahead and spend more money.

Do all 2005 EVO 8 GSRs have the single flapper?

There is no sarcasm it is a waste to change the 10.5 on the TME to another 10.5. Do what you want i told you there is no hard data " dyno #" showing which one is better we can only speculate ...they will both give pretty much the same gains.

I'll agree I think it'd be a waste unless you don't think you'll ever go with a bigger turbo then in your case it may be worth it. There are a couple threads about this floating around but I do not think there's been any hard numbers. The difference is probably so small maybe a hp or 2.

What if the design rev addressed drivability more than horse power like more resistance to surging ... or less bucking on lift off due to a better flowing WG?

This is what worries me, I 'm tempted to pay the extra premium (+50$ over V1) for the V2 on the reasoning that it must have been important enough for Mitsu to spend the extra $ to re-design it and I'd hate to find out why just to save 50$.

Nice avitar btw, years ago when I lived in UT I used to race those things (cat 3 and sport), now I live in SC, enough of that. Anyhow, the only way to really find the differences between the two would be to strap the car on the dyno with one HS in for some data, then install the other HS on same car, same day, exact same conditions, parameters and environment. Doubt anyone bothered with such a test.

I bet the difference is insignificant, but the single flappers has more ability to resist leaking at high exhaust pressures - stiffer actuater will fix that with the dual flapper anyhow.
