EVO 6 Build up - USA style

I get the chance to build up an EVO 6, which is one of my favorite all time cars. Imported from Europe with 12,000 miles on it. This thing is SWEET. The guy who owns it said, "let's do this, let's order parts!"

Just made a baseline dyno on it. It made 250 whp. It has an HKS intake and a crappy cat-back with 3 resonators.

Should be fun to see what it does after all the good stuff goes on. I'm putting lots of Evo 8 parts on it, which may require a little work. Buschur was nice enough to put the anti-lag tube on the IC pipes for me. Now I just need to make them fit. Not to mention the huge BR intercooler.

Should be fun. There are some KW coilovers on their way too, straight from Germany, as well as a nice brake upgrade. Look out track.

REMOTE RES HAWTNESS!

what an awsome car...i love the 6's. is it easier to import/register a LHD mainland european car than a JDM or UKDM RHD? does that even make a difference on the forms and such?

Is that similar to US Evo 8 with comparable mods?

I'm not sure. Not many cars have been on this dyno, it's new in the area.

That's nice man. If only I can get a hold of 4,5, or 6. These seems to be the best models according to some people.

So I started ripping into it last night. Looks like most of the parts are going to fit with very little trouble.

Taking off the front bumper on the EVO 6 is a serious pain. It has a ton of bolts, you have to remove the lights, and pull the bumper beam. Too bad I didn't know about the bumper beam coming off until I struggled with it for over an hour. I finally went to lancerregister.com for some how-to's. Should be easy... next time.

It's kinda cool to see what's different between the EVO 8 and the EVO 6. The EVO 6 has sprayers that hit the radiator as well as the intercooler. The new intercooler will be a squeeze, and require some creative mounting. But it should look killer in the grill.

I'll put up some pics of the progress tonight.

This is all part of phase one. First we'll bring the car up to par with the basic performance needs and parts on the stock turbo. It's also getting KW variant 3 coilovers and new pads, fluid, and lines.

The exhaust will be custom built. The tuning will be done off the stock ECU. AND the ANTI-LAG will be turned on

Once the owner is comfortable with that we'll look at bigger turbos. It's very possible that it will go that way.
