chalk another winner move for the dealership
ok...so i wasnt goin to complain cuz parts do go bad, and i understand that its just a part of owning a high performance car.
my problem isnt even with the fact that the 4th gear syncro went bad. Or the fact that it took them a week to get a hold of the district rep to get the word that it would covered under warrenty and get the car back to me. Not even that they screwed me out of 3 days with out a rental car .
What really PI$$ED me off was the fact that it started leaking transfer fluid, and leaking bad
So heres the lowdown, i finally went to get the car after a week of waiting and calling to see if they had gotten a hold of the District rep yet, and goin to complain to the manager that i needed a rental car to get to and from work and to do other daily activities. Friday finally comes and i am all excited about getting my baby back...couldnt wait to get out the the corolla that they had put me in. I get the car and no more grinding...i am think alright back tonormal and i dont have to baby 4th gear. Me and buddy stopped at a redlight and all you can smell is transmission, we look at each other i am thinkin maybe its just excess fluid that they had spilt somewhere and its just burning off. So i dont even think about it the rest of the night, (st patties day, wasnt really thinking all that much).
Saturday comes and i am helping the same guy move into a new apartment, i volunteer to drive and go pick up the beer and pizza that he was buying and the smell is still there, i was thinking again, maybe that i didnt drive it enough to get everything burnt off.
I am driving home Sunday morning and a friend of mine is behind me goin down the interstate, he calls me on the phone and tells me that the car stinks really bad that smoke is coming from underneith the car. I get to my house a couple min later, as i pull into the driveway i noticed a bunch of stains from where i had parked the previous day. i pulled back and sure enough for the 5 sec that i had been parked there was a nice pile of liquid just laying there. i turn the car off, get out and look under the car and there it is just pouring out from the front of the car. I thought that maybe they didnt tighten up some nuts or bolts.
I dropped the car off at the dealership later that night so that they could work on it first thing this morning. I called them at 8 this morning to see if they had started working on it, and to my surprise they had already had it up on the lift an figured out what they had screwed up on. They tell me that the ball joint hadnt been put in all the way and it poped out of place and thats where it was leaking fluid from.
Ill admit that i dont know as much up the transmission or the drivetrain that i should.....But i am assuming that they were talking about the ball joint that i guess holds the front transfer case in postion.
If i am way off base, please correct me. sorry for the long read and if there are any jumble and confusing sentences....and i cant spell to save my life.
