Is there a chance your timing belt has jumped a tooth?

6-8 times !!

Shoud'nt be more than 4 revolutions of the motor to check compression on each cylinder.

6 psi difference means good. To confirm that your testing just gives low #'s find another evo to test side by side to confirm. Basic scientific theory.

If your car reads 130-140 and the other car reads 180 across then you got yourself a leak.

Well, that would be a great idea, but I don't know anyone else with a IX. I have plenty of friends with VIII's. It says in the service manual for the VIII that the "standard compression is 163 psi" it also says that the minimum is 138 psi. I checked it with two different gauages and got similar readings. That is why I was hoping someone could look in the IX maintence manual and tell me if the "standard compression ratio" of 163 psi is the same for the IX.

Thanks to anyone in advance that can help.

One more time to confirm if you have a leak. Test side by side with another evo albeit 8, to confirm your testing low or your engine leaks. If the other car reads 180 across - well? If it reads the same as yours then go to sleep tonight in pease. Best of luck.

Where is the rest of the image in that avitar? Is that a photo of your wife?

The throttle was wide open during the testing. Tested another Evo with the same gauge. It was and Evo 8 and it read 185 psi. Anybody have the repair manual for an Evo 9, so we can see if the compression readings are lower on the Evo 9.

maximum boost, now that u did a dry test, do a wet test, squirt a tad bit if oil, just enough so u know it creates a film of oil over the top of the piston and piston rings most importantly. then see if the numbers go up. the numbers you posted are very close so thats good.

They preformed a wet test yesterday. They found the compression went up to 180 psi. I just found this out a few minutes ago.

No, it is not my wife, I may get my "account disabled" if I told what was in the rest of that avitar though....

P.S. I would not mind if she was my wife though..
