i had a cat del mated to a JIC TI catback and dayum its loud. I get too many fix it tickets so I just said screw it...im going HFC, it will quite things down a bit. I dont think youll feel a difference betweeen CD and HFC..if you do its very minimal. Only reason Id get it is to quite down the tone a bit and make the pigs happy.

I've heard you can get some flames without the cat. Also, heard it can cook the bumper a little. Any of you guys without the cat get flames poping out? Burnt bumper? Is that on only more modded cars or can it happen stock.

I would think it could happen. These cars run rich as it is and once a nice load of uncatted unburnt hot fuel hits the air... pop!

Call me rice but that is kinda cool. I don't want a burnt bumper though.

I switched from a cat delete to a hi flow cat as catless gets really loud in cold weather. May switch back to test pipe during the summer. Buy yes you will get a lot more carbon build up on the bumper

As for flames, I don't think you'll shoot flames on the street. I've never tracked the car with a high flow cat but cat less (stock except for a TBE) my car would shoot flames like crazy at the track. sometimes the flames would be more than 2 feet long and hang for a while. Burnt the bumper a little bit.

As for the power difference, i think it's there esp on top end. I don't remember really well as i switched a few months ago. I have the UR testpipe and high flow cat. I've heard that the UR makes a good HF cat. Never did a dyno comparo b/w the two so can't really say anything for sure.

How do you feel the car (engine response/spool up) after a HFC or CD?

i've heard of more problems with electronic CEL fixes than mechanical ones. it's up to you but i would go mechanical. they're also much cheaper.

i never used a high flow cat but between the stock cat and a 3 inch test pipe there's a night and day difference with faster spool, more power, and hell of alot louder too, especially if you have a greddi ti!!

get a resonated test pipe. it has several advantages

1. to the untrained eye, the enlarged barrel section of the resonated testpipe appears as if its a cat converter

2. It takes out the nasty rasp that is heard without a cat converter/resonated test pipe

my megan tbe test pipe is resonated, great quality and fitment, check it out.

Is your Megan test pipe 3 inch on the inside of the resonated area? I got an LPI test pipe and it was 3 inch at the mouth and 2.5 inch in the resonated area.
