Finally someone with an Evo and a G-Tech. I've been dying to find out the peak G's for each gear's acceleration. It would be great if you could post that.

GTech pro, or pro Competition? Have you measured your results against a 1/4mi track or dyno (if you're measuring HP/TQ)? I've been looking to buy a "performance computer" but haven't read many real-life, non-testimonials about any of them.

I just picked up my G-Tech yesterday so I too will be posting some data soon.

Hey Evo8, were those numbers you got with a regular launch or did you spool up? Just curious!

Sorry for sounding like a broken record but, EVO8 or wkehn, any chance of you posting the peak acceleration G's for each gear from the G-Tech Pro? That would be spiffy.

How accurate is the G-TECH compared to the other makes? say, APEXi's RSM?? Also does what kind of other function does it have?? Very interested to see if it's better the mine(APEXi). I haven't seen it offered here(Okinawa,JAPAN) anywhere. Any info, would be much appreciated PEACE

AEPXi's RSM would probably be better, only if you have the G Sensor option for it. The G Sensor compensates for tire spin since the RSM by itself is making calculations based upon tire speed and RPM data.

A quote from APEXi: "...when measuring 0-400m times through the speed sensor signal alone, the meter will end measurement too early (shorter distance) due to wheel-spin. Using the G Sensor modifies the speed sensor signal, compensating for wheel-spin and producing impeccably accurate acceleration times."

If you don't have the G Sensor option, I'd say get it and you shouldn't need anything else.

I've owned a G-tech since 1998 or was it 99 right when they were first released (it's currently dead). It's been used so much it finally quit, it msut have had neer 1000 tests on it, if not more (I used to drive around with it on all day too) They are accurate for the first few runs, as they get older they will be further off and off it also strongly varies on the cars style (i.e RWD, FWD, AWD) jsut remember how these things calculate times, it's based on accelleration forces and time.... Go to a track and compair the times from the g-tech and the true 1/4 mile times. G-techs and performance meters tend to be anywhere from .10 to .60 off.... Also in reards to your launch, I find it hard to believe your hitting a 13.6 with that style of launch. I rev'd mine to 6000 and dropped the clutch as the rpms were climbing to succed in a 1.83 60ft and a 1/4 mile time of 13.53... Got wheel hop/loss of traction off the line, but oh man was it launching like a mother from the line.

Just a quick update on the G-Tech. I have yet to find a really straight run to test it on but my first partial run with it (HP & Torque only) yielded 179.9 WHP and 200 ftlbs, 3rd gear pull. Like I said it was a partial run since I didn't have alot of straight road to work with and I only had it full throttle to 6K.

As i have said before in another thread,
The gtech is about as accurate as a couple of tin cans and line of string are for a telephone.

dunno about that... been within 1/10 sec almost every 1/4 track run I have ever made, or seen a friend run. that's probably 100+ runs on 6 or 7 different cars with the same unit.

I agree, it is very accurate, as long as you are on a flat road. HP is also quite accurate to the wheels, as long as you have an exact weight for your car w/driver and again you are on a flat road.
