Well, to start off, the only reason why I purchased this was to get rid of the stock mani, and go with somthing tubular and decent for the time being. What a bad move.
My friend Dean (and V8killer2pt5) and I took the stock manifold off, and replaced it with the Megan Racing Manifold 3 nights ago. We also replaced the stock gaskets with the new ones Megan provided, that was our mistake. After getting the new Manifold in, started the car up, and everything came out smoothly.
A day later, I call Dean back up and tell him I have a REAL bad exhaust leak, and it's coming from the Manifold. I checked under the hood, and I blew the gasket off the manifold where it meets the o2 housing. No problem, we just will change that with the stock (stronger) gasket and it should be good to go, wrong.
We put that in, and start the car up, still have a leak, but not as bad. Check around, and now it's the gasket to the block! The gaskets Megan provides are horrible. They are very flimsy and can snap with little pressure added to them.
I didn't have time to replace the gasket with the stock one for the block yet, but I'm sure that's the problem.
I want to get rid of this manifold and replace it with somthing else. I can put the stock manifold back on, but I am soon upgrading to a 35, so I figured I'd throw a manifold on there to get it out of the way, and because it looks better then stock.
Can anyone suggest what manifold to go with?

i had the megan manifold for awhile and never had a problem. im little worried about the heat wrap, its going to keep heat out of your engine bay. but you increase your chances of cracking the runners.

What mani are you using now?

Ive had the manfold for almost 20k miles. No problems. The gaskets are just junk.
Oh well, what a draw back that is, more of a pain in the ***.

this has been discussed a few times and was mentioned that the gaskets that megan provide are garbage. Many people who purchase this manifold go to Mitsu and replace with new Mitsu gasket instead.

I've had my megan mani for about 10k miles and have not had a problem with it. I did use the aftermarket gaskets wich are junk. After i installed the new tme turbo, i put the mitsu gaskets back in there. The mitsu gaskets are meant to be reused multiple times.
so glad to hear this cause im getting ready to do the same mod, by the way is there a how-to for swaping out the mani, 10.5 hot side and 02 dump. would like to make sure i do it right, and the easiest way
Well Brandon touched on a few issues, but let me add. First I advise removing everything to get it done easily. This means radiator, turbo exhaust housing, dp and related items. I am not well versed with Evo's so was not aware of all these items and managed to do the install without removing any of these items. This sucked took 8 hours of hell in the night, I would advise start early and get all the items you will need. Spray all nuts and bolts with PB, be sure to let them soak. Now I have a different take on removing the manifold, it might be a better way. Remove the 2 bolts 14mm on the rear of the main collector nearest the block. Use a vice grip and back out the two studs on the front after removing nuts. This way one you remove the 9 nuts that attach the manifold to the block the whole thing slides out no need to touch anything else. The issues we had were more of an annoyance than a huge problem but looking back rushing does not help take your time and plan ahead.
