Well....finally after cracking open the valve cover one of the problems with the motor became apparent. The rocker arm on the #4 cylinder on the intake side is off of the lash adjuster.

There is still metal inside the cylinder so I still need to remove the head to find out if there is any internal damage.

Does any one think detonation could have caused this? The plugs showed signs of detonation for sure. But what led to this? The Rev limit was set at 7600 RPM. I bounced it off the rev limiter a few times in the lower gears. While racing and what not...you guys know how fast the car can rev.....but thats about it.

 

What cams and valve springs are you running?

 

if you look at the picture you can tell its all stock.

 

If you can ID that by those blurry pictures then your eyes are better than mine

 

This was probably due to the engine floating valves when you bounced off the rev limit. The metel in the cylinders may be from the valves striking the pistons.
