Driving with an Exedy twin...

i just got the clutch put in...i've hear all kinds of break in methods i decieded on the 500 miles keeping it under 3500 rpms...any objects or suggests.... should i hit over every 30 40 miles or what?

2nd i found it is pretty hard to start from a stop in first gear..i stalled quite a few times and i have probably about 200k of driving under my belt..so ya any suggestion....i lowered the engagement of the pedal and it helped a little... what do you guys do.....lot of gas, lot of slipping..... i've never driven a car with a performance clutch before and man its a pain....lol

thanks!!

ANY SUGGESTION OR RECCOMENDATIONS ARE GREAT!!!

The engagement is going to be fairly rough (more like a race clutch than a street clutch) but you will get used to it and eventually you will not notice it as much. Suggestion: race clutches are smoother when driven harder. As far as break in goes, what you are trying to do is lap in the surfaces so they are smoother and make complete contact. This can be done in less than 100 miles or it may take over 1000 miles, depending on how you drive. The main idea is to slip the clutch but not overheat the clutch until you get full surface contact. The rpms don't matter and you can give it WOT, but don't apply full of power during clutch engagement. You don't have to baby it, just don't abuse it.

had the same problem in my 03 with the excedy twin. it takes a lttle time to get used to it, and as it breaks in more it gets a little smoother on engagement(take off). dont mind the deceleration noise you hear, if you havnt heard it you will, its normal, just the nature of the beast. on take off you,ll have to rev it up a little higher than usual and slip it a little.other than those two issues its a fantastic clutch BTW i had the SD not the HD so i dont know if the decel noise is still present

The Exedy Twin HD is a very nice clutch. Doesn't make too much noise for me really. I had a Cusco that made a lot of decel noise. You'll need a little more rpms for slipping, also get the pedal adjusted to your liking and you will never have another issue, as long as you break it in good.

As far as an aftermarket clutch the Exedy is very streetable...If you are complaining about the engagement in the Exedy than I would hate for you to drive an unsprung 4 or 6 puck

well i also just bought the Exedy twin plate...I actually bought the HD but found out there isnt one in the U.S. right now so i went with the twin regular (i guess thats what it'd be) anyway for you guys who live in the VA area...where did you get it installed n how much? Ive only found places for 650-800 my boi is gonna ask his shop if they'll hook me up but nontheless...thats some cheddar im not putting down. especially when Buschur told me half that price. (too bad its a 9 hour trip up there with no clutch.)

What I do is rev it to 6800 and drop the clutch. Engagement is very smooth

Glad you got your clutch in and it will just take a few days to get use to it. I better watch out now too..
