Calling Claudius
I have been doing some research here trying to find out if an EVO VII RS front LSD would fit also. There is a viscous LSD on e-bay and I contacted the seller in Japan. After numerous exchanges he was able to verify that the EVO VII RS front LSD will wirh with our US EVO so long as it is was designed for an EVO VII RS without the optional ACD. Seller also reported that the
OEM front LSD is only available as a viscous unit. Helix units are aftermarket or sourced from Ralliart. Claudius informed me that he is running a Ralliart 1.5 hellix unit in his car and recommended that I not bother with an OEM viscous unit due to requirement for slip to occur before transferring the torque. This will not help minimize the understeer I am trying to eliminate. I am trying to find out if an ATB unit is available from Quaife. They only list products for AWD and FWD Eclipse models. I am not sure about compatibility between these drivelines and the US EVO.

Interesting,
All my research suggests that the VII RS factory diff was a helical unit. I'm not certain the E-bay seller knows exactly what he has. I am not aware of a plate-type diff ever being standard on the VII RS.
Cheers,

I somehow missed this thread, very strange...
The OEM front diffs arent that great, but 1.5 way Ralliart or Cuso units are regarded as very good. I'm sure they will be available soon for the US Evo 8; possibly a diff designed for a non ACD Evo 7 will fit as well, but I suppose there are not a lot of non ACD Evo 7s, as they were only available in Japan in small numbers. I guess we should check with the diff manufacturers in Japan whether or not an aftermarket diff for non ACD Evo 7 is available.
Other than that, you can get a diff made to order, but that's big bucks!
