Evo Clutch Gone READ NEED AFTERMARET
Evo Clutch Gone READ NEED AFTERMARET
My clutch is slipping on my evo. The thing about it is I never dumped the clutch or anything harsh like that. I do slip in time for racing but NEVER dumped. I have 5000 miles on my evo. Does anybody know where i can find a good company that actually makes a high performance clutch. Even if it's from japan somebody please help. I know there's been alot of people with clutches going out on evo's maybe it's manufacture detect. The other evo in my town is already at the dealership for clutch replacement and he only has 2500 miles seems like a flaw. They charge $1600 for labor and replacement that's why i'm looking for aftermarket because if the stock one goes back in it won't be long before it goes at again ESPECIALLY with upgrades on the EVO.

Uh oh. This is not a good sign. This makes the third clutch I've heard going out on the EVOs. Something's fishy. Before you guys start talking about abuse and racing and whatever, I've *never* had a clutch go out this quickly and I've been driving Mitsu 4G63 cars for almost 10 years. The stock clutch on my Eclipse lasted 40,000 miles and that was after considerable modding and PLENTY of times to the track. When it went, it deserved to go. Clutches going out after 1400 miles...something's wrong.

Hi Tom,
I agree. Claudius has stated that the EVO clutch is known for a short life, however, 5000 miles is not reasonable. WE have the PA lemon law which is one of the strongest in the country, so I'm not to concerned about
denying valid warranty claims.

When you slip the clutch - they wear - it depends on how much slipping you did and how many trips toi the track you made
I personally would not be suprized or upset if my clutch when aftger drag racing and other hard driving abuse
Actually just dumping the clutch is much less wear on the clutch - it just shocks your gears - I'd say that hard launches will eat any stock clutch - - and any clutch strong enough to stand up under abuse will put more stress and shock into your gears
If your going to do hard launches you'll prob be best served learning how to R/R the clutch yourself to save $$ - or start taking it easier on the clutch
