Just spoke to the owner of the car and they told him from what they can see so far, looks like i also suspected, rod gave out...

What i think is that the car had a damaged hg and with time it gave out, causing the freeze plug to come out(happened to me 2x), looks like since all the oil had leaked out, the rods gave out and looks from it like it also might have put a hole through the block

if all the oil leaked out, how could they possibly blame it on a lean condition?? its quite easy to tell....also what about the pistons? that would be another way to tell of a lean condition if they want to blame it on that

thats what i said!! If the car was running lean, most likely he would have taken out some pistons b4 any rods got damaged.. Im curious to find out what cause all the oil to leak out?... Most of the techs dont know jack and just come to incorrect conclusions about what caused the damage

Quick update:

they took the oil pan off and they told him the oil pan studs broke off, the oil leaked out and rod#1 snapped in half. They havent denied warranty yet, they will tear down the rest of the block tomorrow and take it from there..... To me this sounds like a factory defect, bad assembly, i call bs on this being caused by the car running lean as they had told him originally
