And yes, I'm picky and prefer perfection.

You mean an evo 9 compressor cover on a "TME" turbo? Does it fit the center section from the 8? This is good news if it does, as I have been getting my engine managment from Works as well!

wingless --- not quite sure about fitting the 8 center section. My original question to WORKS was: "can't you just take my E9 turbo and install the TME internals, and keep the compressor housing?" --- their answer: "hmmmmm. I don't see why not . . . "

Not sure about the IX comp housing bolting onto an 8 turbo --- no one has proven it won't fit thus far. I assume since I proposed the modification to (specifically) a IX turbo, they might not try the same with an 8, but we won't know until they test it out, which sounds like a couple of weeks from now.

You're right. The price I was thinking of was $799. I wasn't planning on buying one so I just glanced over it and only noticed $7--.

I'm really looking forward to someone running a 20G-9-5blade TME. I'm sure it'd be a wicked turbo but I'd be afraid of compressor surge. If people start running these and there are no issues this is the route I'll definitely be going. Someone mentioned before about the gains of the TME 10.5, besides very quick spool wouldnt this turbo also have alot more low end power due to boost coming on much faster.

LOL There ya go.

My bad i didn't realize you had a 9 in your profile. Make sense, but your car will be down during the rebuild unless you have another turbo on hand

I bought a used 03' from a member here for short money and sent out the center section to be rebuilt with a Ti wheel. I bought a new 10.5V2 hotside and had it coated along with the mani and o2. I was looking to see if I could get a Evo 9 compressor cover as well, but it's looking like the snap-ring assembly is different from 8-9, although I have not confirmed this 100% yet... The actuator is different as are water, oil and lower ic, but these things are reportedly managable.

There was a thread started in the Vishnu Forum a few months ago by a guy in the Bay Area who installed a TME-9 and was waiting for Shiv to relocate his dyno(whatever that means). I never followed up on it to see what the results were if any.

Trinydex might have some dyno info on the TME-9, as conceptually it was pretty much his baby, so to speak.

Actually turbochargers.com have been selling a Evo IX turbo with TME turbine and shaft for over a year now. Its their Evo IX 20G TME. Yes we've heard all the crap about the 6blade vs 5blade but just goes to show someone has done it.

That's what rekindled my interest in this topic, but after reading the forced performance literature on their green turbo, i found that a larger than stock turbine wheel is used. I don't know enough about turbos, but my guess is that any spool up gains by the ti-al wheel may be offset by the inappropriate match to the compressor.

It's too bad mitsubishi didn't bless us with any larger turbos in TME configuration ... or the JDM Evo9 RS/GT turbo for that matter, with a bit stronger compressor blades...

Since you "don't know enough about turbos", how do you arrive at this statement? The turbine wheel used is part of the "magic" that makes the Green so effective.

oops, haven't checked this thread in the last few days...

forgive me for guessing. I was going by FP's description of their turbo,

"The turbine wheel is larger in diameter than the stock TD05H. The larger diameter significantly increase the turbine flow and reduce turbine blockage in the housing compared to a stock TD05H turbine wheel."

So...sounds like by using a TME wheel you would likely lose flow and gain spool...but if this turns the green, which works very well as designed, into a compromise turbo...why spend the money and go through the hassle of mixing/matching parts?
