Question TME + E9 comp housing . . . who's running it?

No more conjecture!!

The argument over the TME, or even the WR versus the stock IX turbo is one big dead horse. Let's hear about some real world testing --- Someone out there must be running TME 6.5 internals with the Evo 9 compressor (improved) housing on the MIVEC 4G63, and we want to know about it!

Who's got it?

Who's thinking about it?

Come on guys!!

I am wondering the same thing too. I havnt done too much research but...if the compressor wheel is the same as the EVO8's, then it could work.

Secondly, does anyone have a mitsu part number for the compressor housing for the Evo 9's turbo?

I actually called Buschur racing and talked to Nick --- he said they hadn't done it. Then I called WORKS in Cali, and they said no one had tried it there, but since I had mentioned it, they were going to bring up the combo in their lunch meeting.

I did ask works if the E9 comp housing and TME internals were compatible, and they said no prob --- should bolt right up.

I'm in Arkansas --- no local tuners --- which means I can't be the one to bolt on the TME/E9 comp and tune it . . . surely someone out there with an E9 has their hands on a TME as well. The rest is intuitive, aside from the custom tune (which I'm SOL on).

Find me a part# for the E9 compressor housing and I will buy it. I have a TME laying around.

The problem is its difficult to get the housing itself, from what I heard their is a long wait for them. You can call Blouch Turbo and speak to them about it.

Just to clarify: The compressor wheel for the TME 6.5 and the 9 is exactly the same, only the compressor housing is different? Correct?

I dont know if the TME6.5 compressor wheel has the same inducer/exducer size as the Evo9 turbo.

Its obvious that the housing is bigger....but if the wheel is different as well, it could possibly move the surging limits around for the turbo.

All in all, I want my frankenstein TME

since noone on this site even has any compressor map info about any of these turbos (especially the 9, which is retarded, how can anyone "know" that the 9 turbo is better? i mean, come-on people...) ill give you what i have found. all twin scroll turbos are basically identical from the evo 4-on. just minute efficency changes on the compressor side. even the 9 comp wheel is identical in all respects to an 8 turbo. so the only difference with a 9 is the single flapper turbine housing (which i dont see whats so super duper about it) and a different compressor housing.

the TME has the Titanium-aluminide turbine wheel and center shaft and a 10.5 turbine housing. same compressor stuff though. truthfully, with what people are *speculating* about the 9 compressor housing is that you get faster spool and better top end. well with the TME components, i actually forsee compressor surge as it supposedly should spool like mad. i think i will end up running just a TME when i get the chance.

id say for the best theoretical power, go with a 9 turbo, TME shaft and turbine wheel, and a 20g compressor wheel (i believe the 5 blade is better correct?). now THAT would be a sweet turbo if you want that power level. i will be using the car for roadracing so i have no need or desire to run a 20g wheel.
