Question ACT OR TRANNY ?? What now!

quik run down, i had a act hdss with the stock tranny till it went south and started getting bad lock out and thrashed gears. So i bought a TRE spec 8 and brand new ACT hdss. well a first it was real notchy feeling going to all the gears. so i beared with it till 500 miles and some went away. i ajusted and bleed the clutch and added royal purple gear oil. thing shifted good but still had some notchy feeling no big deal. here is when it all went bad. i waited till i turned about 1100-1200 miles and took it down the 1/4. that night i slipped the clutch a couple times real bad (burnt clutch smell) and somehow missed (ground) the 3-4 shift 3 of 4 runs. called it a night as to not trash the new trans. well ive been driving it around and have reajusted the clutch again. here are my issues and questions
1. when shifting out of 1st is feels like its "sticking" and kind of pops out gear when i shift, even if i put the clutch to the floor.

2. im getting a mild quick grind or notchy shift from 2-3 agian no matter how far the clutch it depressed.

3. im getting that "hang" if you will when going from 3-4. its like it hitting something then clunks into 4th. no matter what rpm im at i get this kind of lock out feeling on 3-4 before it goes in.

my question is. has anyone else had these issues with new ACT or TRE trans?
im also wondering if i may have warped a brand new disk and that is what is giving me all this trouble? it is a street organic disk not a puck style. Im praying and hoping i have not done any damage to the trans allready. its the 3-4 mild lock out that has me all pissed. im back to granny shifting the 3-4 to avoid lock or grind on brand new trans and clutch. anyway, any helpfull imput or experience in these problems would be good. Im thinking about saying screw it and just go a have a exedy twin installed and cross my fingers i havent f'ed up the trans. thanx guys.

The lockout is either because it is still not adjusted with a high enough release point or the parts have been severely warped. There are a few other possibilities, but that is the most common. But since you were encountering the problem before getting it hot it is probably just adjustment. It still doesn't explain why it has such a hard time getting out of gear. Usually that is not an issue. You shouldn't go out racing with the trans not shifting right. All you are going to do is hurt parts again. Exedy is a good clutch, but it shouldn't be necessary. If you would like me to examine the parts (last set or current) or refer you to a shop that might be able to take a look, send me a PM.
