Stock turbo hybrid??

I have been doing a lot of research for my upgrade path for some time now. I'm still having a hard time trying to pick the right set of mods and turbos that will suit my needs. I have talked to a few local evo owners who have pretty much convinced me to stick with the stock turbo and max it out before I go with a bigger turbo......it sounds like a good idea. So then it got me thinking what I could do to the stock turbo so I could get 400whp on straight 91 octane. My idea was to put a TD06h compressor cover on the stock turbo with a BR 20g compressor wheel, but I have a few questions about this:
1.) can I put a td06 compressor cover on the stock IX turbo?
2.) is the td06 comp. cover an upgrade over the stock comp. cover?

The reason I wanted to do this was to have the ultimate street turbo with great spool and no loss of breath up top. Will my "stock turbo hybrid" get me there or should I look else where. Also is it cheaper to make my own 20g out of my stock turbo or should I buy a real 20g? A lot of the locals said to check out Blouch turbos but I noticed they didn't have a 20g for the evo.......

Don't buy a real 20g, that thing is old news. If you want 400whp on straight 91 I would say the 50 trim is your best bet with minimal lag.

your stock turbo is a reverse rotation turbo... you cant put a standard rotation TD06H compressor cover on it, it wouldnt do anything...... And yes blouch turbo has put a TD06H 20G turbo on an evo, but it had a custom manifold built by turbotrix. Mitsubishi 20G covers wont fit on your stock turbo. sorry
