How many are happy with their 2.3/2.4?
Just wondering how many are absolutely happy with your built motor? I had a 2.4 and it had a TON of issues, my buddy has a 2.3 built by a very reputable builder, has issues with it too....
I got rid of mine b4 it became a major disastor, the buddy with the 2.3 is getting rid of his too, and also couple of guys here on evom
is it even worth the headache?

i haven't had any issues out of mine. It makes good power and is actually smoother then the stock 2.0l
Did your friends keep the balance shafts and adhere to the rev limitations of a 2.3l stroker? I would think as long as a reputible builder put the engine together properly that there should be no issues what-so-ever.

i have built several 2.3's & 2.4's, all have 3071's or 35r's + all the basic bolt-ons & aem ecu's......cant wait to put a big motor in my car.
The engine's behave extremely well, docile while driving in the city, even on 280 cams.....not much more to say, other than dont rev em past 8k for a longer life, just to be on the safe side.
not sure of you & your friends issues, i can only imagine, ~90% certain it has to do with the mapping, or lack there of....or parts not matched properly.
stick it out, get it set-up well, you wont be disappointed.
There are many people on these boards who still manage to make chicken $hit out of chicken salad.
good luck
BTW, What's your set-up?

Something so important should be elaborated so what's the impeding disaster ? The tons of issues ?
If you expect reliability and issues to be on par w/ a stock car then leave the car stock. The more you change the higher the chance of something going wrong. The OEM stuff have a wide margin of safety and long R&D/testing behind them for a reason. Once you test the limit or change the configuration of the original intent sooner or later you'll find out.
Just like anything else the more you do them the better you get at it. This is no different, you don't want to deal w/ issues then wait until everything get sorted out before jumping in and getting the latest must have performance parts so let others beta test it first.
As far as strokers go I would wait a little longer so the vendor will have more R&D/experiences under their belt. I was gonna do that but alas my car is not cooperating, it crapped out a couple of mos. ago so here I'm w/ a stroker.
One thing I wish I'd leave intact is the balance shaft. There's quite a bit more vibration especially pronounced at 3800-4500rpm translating into low pitched drone in the cabin. Although I'm getting used to it now it was disappointing at first. It is not an overwhelming disturbance but it is a little more than I expected.
Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping mine will last me a while.
