Nauticabri,

I just explained the options above. You guys make things difficult..

Evo 9 + Greddy Evo II+ straight test pipe with 02 bung= sensor goes on test pipe or midpipe(you need an additional 02 plug)
Evo 9 + Greddy Evo II +test pipe no 02 bung= 02 sensor goes on midpipe
Evo9 + Greddy Evo II + cat= 02 sensor goes on midpipe or cat(you need a plug)
Evo 8+ Greddy Evo II+ test pipe= 02 sensor goes on midpipe
Evo 8 + Greddy Evo II+ cat= 02 sensor still goes on midpipe

There is two more combos(using the resonator test pipes) but you already know the principle...

Note* If you decide to use a test pipe on the Evo 9 then undo the ziptie holding the 02 sensor harness to extend it 12-14" to reach the midpipe

There should be absolutely no more debate questions or speculations of any kind, if you guys need pictures then I can post but please read my post in detail otherwise do whatever you think, you can spend hours under the lifter, I am just trying to help you out.

Again, I went through all 4 combinations in my Evos. Good luck!!

Nauticabri,if you decide to go with the test pipe then all you need is a mechanical simulator, it is a plug of about 2" long that gives you two purposes:

1) it fools the o2 sensor
2) it plugs the 02 sensor to the mid pipe so that you don't get any leaks.

If you guys wait a few minutes I could post some pics.

Picture # 1 is the Evo 9 stock midpipe, it does not have a 02 bung at all.
Pic# 5 is the stock Evo 9 Cat wich has the 02 sensor located on the cat itself
Pic#4 is actually my Evo 9 Greddy Evo II midpipe with its o2 sensor, note that the cable ziptie must be cut to extend the o2 sensor for fitmet then re-arrange the harness back and re install the ziptie

Pic#2 and #3 are the resonator test pipe wich happen to have a o2 bung but normmally some straight through test pipes wouldn't have the bung at all.

Guys, I posted the Evo 9 pics because you both had questions about the Evo 9 cat back fitment but if someone needs the pics of the Evo 8 Greddy cat back and o2 sensor install I will be more than glad to post them.

Enjoy your awsome catbacks!!

Anytime bro. I know is confusing at first because you can't simply put the picture together without seeing it.. I understand that part.

The good thing about the forum is that someone already went through the trouble and hassle of installing parts, we are here to share our experiences.
Sorry if I sound like and *** earlier. Let me go to the cars and see if I can download a couple of pics for you

Pic# 1 is a stock Evo 8 midsection piping, notice that the Evo 8 has the bung on the midsection(Evo 9 on the cat)
Pic# 2 is a spare 3"HFC that I have(actually I have two of them), notice it comes with no o2 bung
Pic # 3 is my test pipe and Greddy Evo II catback on the Evo 8

I'm doing the install right now, basically have everything out of the car except the downpipe. I'm taking off all the damn splash shields right now to get the stock downpipe out and new one in.

Question 1) How necessary or recommended is it to put the splash shields back on after install?

Question 2) Why the HELL can I not get the damn O2 sensor out of the stock cat for the life of me?? I have the O2 sensor socket, used the quick disconnect to get it out from under the car so I can get leverage and I cant get that thing to budge!!!

Answers/advise/recommendations?

I am not running any shield specifically for the same reason, it is a pain in the a ss. Some downpipes you can slide them between the tie bars, some you can't so you need to undo at least one of the bars(just one side).

As far is the 02 sensor, it does not surprise me, your car is one of the newest cars in the forum and is already difficult to remove.. the heat is what makes all the trouble, these things melt to the thread.

There is a spray lubricant that you must apply on the 02 sensor, you must be patient. Don't stripp the o2 sensor. You can also get a portable torch and put some heat to soften it.

Good luck and let us know..

I got everything done and I love it. Everything went back together fine, fits perfect... Definitely destroyed the O2 sensor, will be calling around tomorrow to find a new one. that damn thing was in there so tight its ridiculous. I ended up getting it off but the threads were GONE. they like welded themselves in the Cat, it was ridiculous. So right now I'm drivin around with the Helix mechanical CEL with a bolt in it to plug it until I can get a new O2 sensor. I definitely feel the difference in power from the system I love it. I'll try to get up pics/clips within the next couple days... Questions...

Anything dangerous about runnin it with no sensor and just pluggin it? Or am I fine? Obviously I have a SES light, but can it being like that cause me any issues, such as running ridiculously rich, damage anything? I wouldnt think so but I wanna check with more experienced people.

When I get the new O2 sensor will the system reset it self and shut the SES light off when it cycles or no, will I have to go get it reset?

Where can I find another O2 sensor, just the dealership, or elsewhere? and how much are they approx?

Thanks

OK well I got my answers, the damn O2 sensor is $400 bucks, I'm obviously pissed, that is the most ridiculous thing I think I've ever heard but it is, and no where has them or can get them except the dealership. (at least around me) No its not hurting anyting really driving it without one and you can reset it by pulling the ECU fuse.

Everyone out there PLEASE LEARN FROM ME. Be very very careful with the O2 sensors because the heat will literally melt the threads and getting them out of the stock cat is a pain. If you wrench on it hard and force it out you're gonna be pissed like me and tear apart the threads and spend 400 bucks for a new one. I wish I would've known this, I learned te hard and expensive way. Hopefully my experience might save someone else out there. My car only has 1500 miles on it and it was already this bad...

Carlos you were a great help with the install, only problem I have is I'm just installing the catback now cause my testpipe and downpipe is on backorder for several months.

I'm having problems with the U style bracket that holds the O2 sensor wire and goes around the cat/mid-pipe flanges. Also the stock mid-pipe also has a little bracket for the O2 wire so I'm not sure where to remount that...

Any help is appreciated...I'm going to bend or cut the U bracket to fit around the bigger greddy flange but I need to figure out where to put the little bracket that was on the mid-pipe.
