Do you have a high powered stereo in your Evo? That's usually been the cause of alternators blowing out in my previous cars.

No only stock. It has about 60000 miles on it. I guess it was just time for it to go out.

Does anyone know the best way to get it out, through the bottom of the car or through the engine bay?

i was looking at that when i did my full set of pulleys i just unbolted it and replaced. It looked like you have to snake it around the back of the motor under the intake mani or remove some drivetrain/suspension.

The manual shows that you have to pul the intake manifold.... I will be doing mine VERY soon. Just found out my alternator is dead today too.

I noticed that the alt was quite burried in the engine bay when I pulled my engine. However once i had my engine out it was no problem to get it off and if need put a new one on. So just pull your engine first

In all honesty I would try getting it out from the bottom. Let us know how it goes and good luck

I am a mechanic in a local shop. A good buddy of mine is one of the salesmen and he was there when i was pulling the engine. I told him if a Evo comes in for a Alt, its not going to happen. Not too big of a concern for me since I have only seen 2 evos in town since they came out.
